Fox a few weeks ago had a TV movie about a show with a giant spaceship in the future. http://www.tv.com/virtuality/show/75498/summary.html Although the future doesn't look bright for the show to be picked up as a series. You can still catch Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis on free TV in syndication. Also requisite hot chick from Virtuality.
If you goTV.com, you can watch all of the original Star Trek episodes, including several of the newly 'remastered' HD versions. And I have always enjoyed Star Trek, since it was a favorite of my Dad's, and by the time I was old enough to remember any of it (mid-1970's), it was already in re-run cult status, and it was one of those shows you could catch regularly on Saturday afternoons, that kind of thing. So lately I have been going back and watching them again, starting in chronological order from when they were aired, and watching one of two a day. And as much of a 'beloved' show as this is/was, I just have to say, oh my God, how utterly awful the vast majority of it is. Now I know it is a reflection of the times, it had practically no budget, and the cast was sometimes... well let's just say, 'less than stellar'. But still, I suspect that the majority of Star Trek fans have not even watched the show lately, and are just feeding off their earlier memories. Yes, some of it holds up well, but a lot of it is very childishly written and directed, and you could tell the actors were not sure if they would even be employed the following weeks. Anyway, just wanted to toss that tidbit in, since people are all over 'Sci Fi' on T these days. As much as we might not like to think so, science fiction on TV now is so far ahead of where it used to be, and yes I am talking about the writing too. Now if Fringe would just hurry up and come back on!
