Am I the only person who hasn't actually read the original story?

Okay, I am finally all the way through this exhausting marathon of a thread. I can understand giddy's anger and frustration completely. And like AroundTheWorld pointed out - nobody really jumped on kidcave9 (I think that was his name) other than bobrek because they were too busy piling on poor giddy. The reason or reasons for that are simple: giddy is obviously well-known and especially as someone that other people like to push his buttons on and the other guy? Nobody really knows him.

The thread has grown to epic lengths mainly due to giddy's stubborn insistence on responding to each poster that posts against his viewpoint. In some cases, it seems fairly obvious that some people are posting stuff to rile him up because they know he will respond back. Yet, there comes a time where he is just going to have to walk away and the thread will eventually die down.

Now with that being said, he said he was at a family reunion which is probably the best thing he could do. The only question that is left is will he respond back to the posts that have appeared in this thread since he has been gone? What's the record for longest thread in the Hangout, page wise? I really think that giddy has it in him to break the record here, lol.

But I will add one last firing shot here - I think another reason why giddy hasn't let this go is the attitude that some posters have in "giddy should be grateful that his wife got her camera back" and even the more ridiculous suggestion of rewarding the woman that had taken the camera for returning it! Maybe giddy and his wife could have been more gracious, but none of us were there other than giddy. His wife probably didn't have the best body language when camera lady gave her back the camera, but we don't know and will never know.

However, I am with bobrek on this - if you find something that does NOT belong to you, you take every step in good faith to return the item to the rightful owner. Only after you exhaust all steps and you still don't have the rightful owner come forward, then you can say "Finders keepers." I know that most of the world doesn't work this way but if they did, it would be a better place, IMO.

I just hope giddy has learned his lesson and does not allow his wife to be in charge of keeping track of the camera.

It would be a shame if one of his own relatives had to "run the giddy gauntlet" of returning this wayward camera.

    It could get ugly.

LOL, it could be like being in charge of the remote. Once the wife gets her hands on it, you aren't getting it back. :p

How so? They ask for no money. They may or may not succeed, but they have offered a great opportunity to grab a share of the online coupon marketplace-- all for no cost.

If they can make significant offers on a regular basis, a group my size that spends only $50/month on half-price deals in their local community will net me about $5,000 per month in passive income.

A "pyramid" has to take in money with no product to offer. These guys have actually launched in a couple of local markets to test out their systems. I'm just waiting for some kind of national or local offer in my marketplace. To this point, I've conveyed them no money, so it's kind of hard to make a charge like yours stand.

This is kind of a rock and a hard place situation. Since many of the participants turned this into a referendum on me rather than the ethics of the situation, it's hard not to be compelled to answer criticisms and certainly direct questions.

It's damned if you do, damned if you don't. Is it worse to try and answer most criticism or duck it? I'm inclined to face up to it. Call it pushing buttons if you want, but I also realize that any thing I write is read by others not just the person I address, so I correct the record so to speak.

Also there were so many misconceptions carried forward by the critics that they deserve correcting. You even committed one, Manny, and I'll address it below...

Of course I will if they merit it. I don't chase records, though.

Okay, here's the correction: 1) I wasn't even there. As I said quite a few times, I only made one phone call and wrote on letter in this whole matter. I was at home with the kids. My wife drover over directly after work to meet Camera Lady. If you'll recall, I got "criticized" for that too-- making my wife do "a man's work."

I'm sure that was mostly provocative but I can't silently assent to something like that.

    2) What did Mrs. G do that was ungracious? She didn't return fire, but she didn't tip or reward either. She was caught off-guard by CL's obnoxiousness. She called me on the way home to tell me: "You won't believe what she did...."

    Amen.

BTW, the reunion was a great success. Going back over this AM to finish cleaning and packing up.

Elvis has left the building! We had an Elvis impersonator last night. My mother-in-law was a huge Elvis fan as were most women of her generation. She had tickets to see him live for the first time, but he died a few weeks before her concert date with him so the family arranged for this Elvis impersonator to come and perform. He did about 70 numbers; Elvis was prolific!

It makes perfect sense that you have joined the Customer Advantage, the scam. You will be perfect candidate since you are resilient and stubborn. You sound just like every other TCA zombie.

Gosh, do you know a real zombie? Can I get one of them to come by for Halloween?

I'm sorry if my facts don't fit with your preconceived notion about something-- deal with your disappointment!

No but Mrs. G did-- including a panorama shot of the whole assemblage (80 or so people) lined up at the railing of the back porch. She worked her tail off the whole weekend, taking pictures, scanning old family photos that others had brought to share in order to make, for everyone, a DVD of the assembled images to share with her whole family so yes it is a good thing that she got her camera back because she is the only one with the passion, drive, skills and desire to do that for her family.

Oh and by the way, she handles the camera while I handle the remote!

ToyCen things Mr. and Mrs. G are setting a bad example of overly dramatizing a situation to their kids.

    giddy,

You do know that the average attention span that people have lasts no more than 15 minutes, probably shorter than that. And this thread is how many pages?? But at any rate, ease up dude - I'm on your side, not against you. Yet, I can see why so many people push your buttons. You went after me like a pit bull and I am agreeing with you, lol. My only mistake, I guess, is that I didn't recite your opening post verbatim. Sorry about that.

Take a deep breath and relax...

maybe you really do want to break the record for longest thread here

I think the picture thread has that covered.
