The debate was not good. Obama seemed visibly agitated at the dealing with trivial issues. The were two things good for Obama. Hillary said yes he was electable. That hurts her case in going to the super delegates and trying to convince them that isn't electable. The other was that when the moderators gave Obama the option to pile on Hillary for her sniper fire story, he refused to do so. Hillary however seemed happy to drag things further in the mud. It was quite a contrast.
I am really happy that Obama did his best to avoid the attack and even told everyone to look past the reference to the sniper fire. It shows that he really believes in talking about the issues and not getting caught up in the small mistakes that both Hillary and Obama have made. And to be frank, I think it's not just Obama who is being judged here, but Pennsylvania. Are they going to look past both candidates gaffes and focus on what's truly important. Can they look past gender and race and figure out what's going to make thier lives better. I hope that's what drives their choice, but admittingly I have a low faith.
Of course you must realize that Obama has neither the experience, the ability, or the gravitas to actually work with Washington to accomplish anything, right? His entire candidacy has been the result of a well-financed and expertly crafted marketing campaign. Seriously to make a candidate this inexperienced and flawed appear to be a democratic nomination contender takes some serious work. Call in Madison Avenue for this one folks. The guy has a low level management trainee resume, but somehow his buzzwords, mouthed speeches, youtube videos, and logos/signage have convinced long-time democrats to vote for him. With time, they will look back and wonder how they could have been so stupid.
True, and it also shows that to a large degree he's willing to practice what he preaches. He doesn't just talk about changing the tone, he actually puts it to practice. I think he looked bad for most of the debate, but it's the kind of thing in retrospect something good can come out of it.
He did look bad, Hillary was clearly more polished in her delivery. Obama stumbled badly on some questions, particularly about the capital gains tax. He had a good point about fairness, but he should have address the issue about cutting the tax yielding more revenue. He could have countered that of course the revenue will spike if you cut the tax because everyone will cash in on gains that they wouldn't have, but long term it's a losing proposition. Same with an increase, in the short term it will hurt revenues because people will be less likely to realize a gain with a higher tax, but that in the long run it will generate more revenue because evenutally they have to realize that gain anyway. I feel a lot better about Clinton after this debate. But I hope they do run as a team no matter what. McCain is increasingly appearing not right for this country.
What the heck are you talking about? Did you watch? He was dropping bombs on Hillary (or trying to at least), regarding Bill Clinton pardoning members of the weather underground and on her 'baking cookies' quote from '92. That's not changing the tone. His campaign has been twisting and distorting Hillary's positions and words throughout the last year. Wake up. Man, the obama cultists are just oblivious to everything regarding him. It's like they've been hypnotized by the marketing campaign... sad really
this perfectly describes gibson and sephonopoulos, pompous. the way they would grill both candidates if they didn't like the answers was disturbing. a typical case of trying to make themselves part of the story. I wonder if they are trying to make up for the kid glove treatment they gave candidates during 2000 and 04 because the media has received backlash about that. seems like over compensating.
Funny If you actually paid attention you would know he was defending her and was paying her a complement when he said that.
LOL claiming moral high ground for Obama. Actions speak louder than words, brah. Rezko, Jeremiah Wright, Farrakhan - I would not describe those guys as "high ground".
His actions have spoken louder than words. That's what's so great. It's why he hasn't rolled in the mud with Hillary and others who would try and drag the debate there. His actions have been great. He's showing what the change is all about, and it's working. It's pretty cool to see.
you get someone who will be a "politician" that is always trying to be in line with public opinion polls. a less charasmatic bill is basically it. and if you want to say hillary was just a president's wife then you being extremely dismissive of her life and somewhat sexist. i know you are an obama supporter and if you believe that a guy that far left will come in and magically change things in washington then you simply aren't living in reality. i remember old W. was talking like he was going to be uniting the aisles back when he was running....complete failure.
HIllary's getting flack for saying Obama's absolutely electable??? Crazy. Did they ask him if she was electable?
Unbelievable....your candidate got his ass spanked in a debate and you spin that as something positive. The guy is proving day by day that the more he opens his mouth the more he looks like a guy who does not have the skills for the job.
Its a brilliant strategy I must admit, the negatives stories and bad judgments will all be considered as distractions. Obama is clearly above the fray on those, and if you try to talk about them, you are slinging mud. The sad part is, when it comes to real issues like the cap gain tax, he stumbles all over the place. Which begs the question, if you can't talk about the "negative" stuff, and you clearly not as well versed on real issues as your opponent. Just what the hell are people voting for? Oh that's right, he gives beautiful pre-written speeches. Obama => Deval #2 All sizzle, no steak.
to be fair, hillary said he wasn't electable before the debat, just like they didn't delve into hillary's church or whatever. that's her contreversy, so they asked her about it.
