I have a cap question for ya'll. If we sign hakeem for and large chunk of change and stay above the cap, can we then trade him for equal salaries(webber or hill) and use the exemption to sign someone. I know we don't get the exemption if we fall below the cap.

I am clueless when it comes to the cap.

Let's take parts of that last post one at a time. It's in order, so the Webber/trade dealings are at the beginning and end while the draft bits seem to be sandwiched in the middle.

Remember Webber?? Just checkin'...WHAT IF THE MAGIC REALLY DO WANT DAVIS????? That's what-if, of course!! Is there double-dealing going on here? Or..maybe triple dealing?? When you C D other team and ask them if they're feeling ok!!

Perhaps the Magic really want Webber instead of Davis. Perhaps there's a three way going on. Perhaps if the other team isn't feeling OK, they would mess around with the letters a bit - like C D instead of D C. But what would a three way trade be with Was and Orl as two of the participants without the Rockets? This is a Rockets forum, after all...

C D could refer to Carroll Dawson, though that seems to throw off the rest of the puzzle (which makes some sense right now, if you read to the end).

It seems as though the press is high on Rad from Euro - they have good reason! DUNK....ON......RAD!!!

Radmanovic is good, but too many people are finding this out and the Rockets don't like this. It may force them to look elsewhere...but in any case, they are going to remain silent in the positive category when it comes to talking about Rad, perhaps even downplaying his workouts and skills in the press.

Tale of two Ken's! What a great read!!

Tale of Two Cities...Tale of Two Ken's...can't make this one out, though it may imply the Rockets keep one of the picks and use it on a Ken, likely Ken Johnson, if things fall into place.

NOW, I'm going to take the best-looking femaile poster in this group and make passionate love to her during the draft and procreate my new child with her. He will be young for a long time and then he will go into the draft and he will be chosen!! He will be chosen because he will be talented, not because he's got potential but because he can play!

Someone young and athletic seems to be who the Rockets are targeting, perhaps not with their own picks. A new child implying a new pick, perhaps? See below for more...

( I'm serious about that female crack! I'm looking for marriage!! A perfect marriage! A marriage that's obvious to everyone!)

What player would obviously be the perfect match for this Rockets team? Someone who is very athletic and can rebound. Does a lot of little things well and does something(s) extremely well. Gotta think it's Griffin here, perhaps Kwame Brown if looking at more size.

    Uhh.....poof..or puff...same thing!!!

I think the comment relating Puff to the Magic and the creator of a poof to the Wizards seems logical. Perhaps something like a disappearing act of Magic...Hakeem to DC, Webber to Orlando, and a nice collection of players to Sacramento and players/picks to Houston. Perhaps the coveted #1 pick that would get the player mentioned above.

I'm absolutely shocked that no one mentioned Terrence Morris. He is the best friend, he's gone through four years of College. it's the perfect marriage, coz of his friendship with Steve. He's a pretty good rebounder for a SF. Francis has been endorsing him. It makes too much sense. Plus, since he hasn't improved much recently, we won't be picking him up off potential, but the skill he has.

    What do you guys think?

I've been pro-Morris for awhile and I know we'll draft him. The perfect marriage, to me, would be getting Webber and Morris and keeping Walt and re-signing Moochie; we'd be University of Maryland/DC/Tacoma Park South.

I'm not even giving these posts much attention, but clearly he is referring to Hottie Dottie and her Shane Battier Comment, which by the way, is the whole point of this draft.

I think he hit it here. It all depends on if Jordon is coming back or not. Perhaps we are going to deal Hakeem and/or picks to Jordon in exhange for their pick and a worthless player to clear up cap space for the Wizards.
He also said they were going to pick someone proven … Would that be Battier or some type of player? Curry and Kwame are not proven players, so we would not need the #1 pick. Perhaps we trade the #1 pick for say … #5 or #6 and future picks/players?

But trois equipes means "Three Team", so I don't know if this is the case. Maybe its a double meaning regarding the comback of the "big three" and a "three team" trade.

Who is "Hottie Dottie"? Are you talking about "hottoddie"? One's a woman, the other's a drink. [IMG]

I really don't think Washington will give up the #1 pick for Dream. Maybe if we throw in the #8 and possibly one of our other picks. Although MJ will need cap space he knows all these vets (himself, CB4, Dream/Ewing, Oakley, Rodman, Harper) are only good for 2-3 years max. After that the franchise needs someone and it will be this top pick. They may need cap room but they won't give up the future for a 2 year window.
No way they give up the #1 for anything short of Stevie or Cat along with Dream. And no way do we trade either of them.

Also I hope something shakes out with all this. I remember last year we all got excited about some possible trades (ie SAR) and everything fell thru. Keep our fingers crossed and trust in CD & Rudy!

OK, I deleted the original post. Clutch says in another thread the trade-up idea is real.

The Nets need a center and an athletic small forward who plays D. I would think #13 and #18 would snare Jefferson and Ken Johnson for them, and #7 would get us R. White.

Could we sweeten the deal if the Nets want more? Maybe the Detroit pick? Or is that too much to give up?

Clutch says we want to get rid of a pick, so, well, let's go ahead and trade up.

    How about this weird string-

C D- There is exactly one player in the NBA with those initials: Chris Dudley

    Marriage=Marryin'= Marion, Shawn

Penny Hardaway would fit that old injury clue

This heat is driving me crazy..well, not really! Not REALLY the Heat (Miami), so how about the Suns?

Coincidence? The Suns always have like Cato, right?

Unrelated-the Furballs, err Grizzlies will be going to Memphis....a Tale of Two Cities.

Just to take that a little further for the hell of it......

    procreate a child = Jason Kidd? He's a pro, he can create....dunno.

Best female poster = Best post up player? Webber? Marion?

A little more fuel to the inferno......

If you want to add gas to the fire, you could say "Penny" is a female name known for posting up smaller guards. [IMG]

    Well?

Penny is not the best female poster around, though.

    My guesstimate.
Wizards(d of COLUMBIA) get Olajuwon and Cato and other considerations.

Houston gets #3, Ratliff, and Kukoc. Want to use #13(or #3) on VladRad and #23 on TMo.

Atlanta was going to get Walt and trade him somewhere else, but now want Kenny Thomas and the #18(Ken Johnson) for dealing. They also get The #1 pick, which people think they'll use on Battier, but will really pick Kwame Brown.

Wait, where am I? Did I just say something?

Well on the clutchcity homeopage the Robert Horry article is called "Tale of Two Cites"
Could this have something to do with a trade between the two cities, Houston and LA? Possibly involving a Ken...Kenny Thomas?
