Well, there are several factors. He has yet to have a play a full season with consistent productivity and without off court drama. It's doubtful he'll be offered an extension until he goes at least the lion's share of this season without incident. If he goes to restricted free agency anything can happen. The KPJ situation is therefore very fluid, although contract years have a way of making guys focus and excel. ;)

KPjr, at minimum, becomes a player similiar to Jrue Holiday. But, there is potential for more...He's a bigger scorer.

I don't disagree with you. Just thought strange you remembered Kidd but not Nash who was younger.

I don't think "selfish" is what KPJ's main criticism. People who are skeptic of KPJ as PG are concerned with his PG instinct. His 6.2 apg ranked 16th in the league, not bad but not great among starting PGs.

Other than the time he left at half did he have other incidence that stood out more so than anyone else ?

You and I are not far off from our beliefs.....if at all?

I'm not fans off Tyus Jones or Brunson but I respect them....

I see TyTy as an eventual lesser version. A lesser version of Tyrese Maxey
whom it's reported that the 76ers are dangling as trade bait recently.

There are some things I want TyTy to work on or fix.
He is outstanding at PnR (when we start running it)
    and 5' to 10' floater/mid range shots.

Unfortunately I think he needs another facilitator to draw
the gravity of the defense to allow TyTy the space he needs
to maneuver and operate. The defense has to be in scramble
mode to be effective. I'm hoping PnR is as good as advertised.
    -----------------------
I'm banking on Houston drafting one of Cam Whitmore (6'7') or
Dillion Mitchell (6'7") or Kel'el Ware (7'0") or Dereck Lively (7'1")
or Jordan Walsh (6'7") with 7'3" wingspan.
    --long shot Wembanyama--

So missing out on Peyton Watson or Max Christie
doesn't bother me as much. Their 3-pt shooting
    was suspect this season.

I expect Kevin Porter jr to be at:
    18-20 points
7-8 assists (greater targets and not running vanilla offense)
    5-6 rebounds

Kevin then gets contract extension as Wall contract money and Eric Gordon
contract money come off the books.

    Porter...............TyTy
    Green................Josh Christopher / G Mathews
Cam Whitmore or Dillion Mitchell or Jordan Walsh / **
    Jabari Smith......Tari Eason
    Sengun...............Garuba /
    Kel'el Ware or Dereck Lively

    **
    Tate / Kenyon?

Free agency and money to spend can help fill in the gap(s)
    TyTy......SF......Center (whichever is weakest)

Tari and Jabari this year will help create our Small Ball lineup for years.

    Porter-Green-SF-Jabari-Tari

    or as you mentioned

    Porter-Green-Jabari-Tari-Garuba
(Garuba having the Robert Williams role)

Well if Kevin Porter Junior averages eight assist with minimal turnovers does it really make any difference whether is considered a point guard or not

I'll say this much - if we had Josh Giddey rather than KPJ, even with our current young team, we would be a playoff team at the very least.

the type of PG you described is pretty rare though isn’t it?

    There’s him & Simmons?

NBA has changed, don’t need to a “ traditional PG “ there’s more responsibility for the whole 5 on the court to play-make.

How many 2 guards shared as much playmaking responsibility as they do now, along with 3,4 and even some 5s in our case with Sengun, Nuggets having Joker etc.

I agree with both comments, and I think the solution might be simple. If KPJ shares the ball with Sengun and Green, and trust their decision making, every one could benefit from this. KPJ will have less usage, probably score (possibly more) with higher efficiency due to getting the ball back in better positions. I think the problem is KPJ holding to the ball too long without court vision, feel for running the offense and decision making. If he can outsource some of it, this might look much better. If KPJ tries to get his assists up, I think it won't be good, even if he gets more assists since it will come through shutting down other lanes which are probably more productive. He should rather get his passes which leads to assists up .

This might not work in the long run if you are aiming for a title, but that's a discussion for later.

Don’t get the love for Giddey. Lousy defense, lousy shooter. Averaged .2 more assists than KPJ and 1.1 more to’s and that’s with KPJ’s horrific start to the year. KPJ is way better than Giddey. He does make some pretty good passes though. Sheeeeesh.
