Scorpion asks turtle to let him cross a river on his back. Turtle says, "No, because you will sting me and I'll die." Scorpion replies, "but if you die, then I'll drown". Satisfied with the scorpion's answer, the turtle lets him on his back. While they are crossing the river, the turtle feels the scorpion sting him. Turtle says, "Why did you do that?! Now we will both die!" Scorpion says, "Because I'm a scorpion."
It is not surprising that Morey would say what he said. Teams often deny that they plan on making a deal until they actually do. What is interesting, however, is how this statement came about in this conversation. Here, the hosts never asked Morey about trades. Instead, they were talking about turnovers and one of the hosts suggested that turnovers may go down as the team members get more experience playing with each other. The "cavalry not coming" comment came out rather abruptly.
Dang morey sounded stressed, points he made during the interview 1. Cousins stepped up big was the key to their win, his rebounds, put backs & steals 2. Jones played the best all around game vs kings 3. We struggle passing into the post, Lin is the best at it so far 4. mchale is frustrated the players are prepared on what they need to or change & they go out there & still don't do it. 5. Right now we can talk about being contenders 6. won't be any trades he wants this group to gel 7. We're around 30th in turnovers he would like if we got down to 20th range, but not a big issue because were number #3 in top offense
Good sum up. And if he's for real about players jelling, that's good to hear. And I swear, as strange as this sounds, go look at Harden, Dwight and Lin's best games. They usually had a lot of TOs in them. TOs can't happen late in the game and they do and those have to be stopped. Also number 4 is telling and if Lin is best passing into the post, then he should be in the starting line up OR minutes manipulated that he gets to play more with Dwight.
I've heard the scorpion and frog version only. Didn't find out until today there's a scorpion and turtle version as well . I have an acronym that describes Morey Forget the turtle story. If no changes are made we will be the hare in the hare and the tortoise story .
# Rest assured. Changes are going to be made. I am guessing Morey wants draft picks bad but nobody is giving him what he wants. In addition I think Morey should look at the FA market or international market what guys he can sign.
Morey is not telling all. I would be disappointed if there's no player movements by trade deadline. I do recall listening to a Morey interview last year that convinced me PPat and Morris were going to be with us till the end of year. A week later, they were gone. I'm hoping to see something similar here.
I think the original fable ends with: "I can't help it, it's in my nature." (and I also know it as the scorpion and the frog)
If Morey is the scorpion, then other Gms are turtles now. They grew thicker skins but probably still gets stung. They used to be frogs.

Which deadline trade brought the cavalry? Patterson, Morris, Douglas, Aldrich and a million dollars for Robinson? Hill, Flynn, and a million dollars for the chance to grovel at Derek Fisher's feet for weeks before eventually buying him out? Battier and Smith for the opportunity to pay Thabeet's enormous contract? Cavalry?! My, my.
Whelp, this confirms Morey is a LOF  Unless the conspiracy theorists think this is just a way to increase his value
