Are you on something tonight, hayes? Or did you at one time also boast 'comparative advantage' -- like bigtexxx did -- over many of poor kids who have to find some way to bootstrap themselves in order to be viable in this country?

I don't think I did - although I'm not exactly sure what bigtexx said about 'comparative advantage' that you're referring to. :)

This would be great! Sign me up. I'd like nothing more than to watch someone else waste time on this BBS.

Well I am here in Iraq and what it seems to me is the younger soliders seem to question things more. The older soliders seem not to. Just the other day while in the Dfac\mess hall we were eating next to some older soliders and watching CNN. Howard Dean was being interviewed and the solider that was sitting next to me was blasting him. The other soliders he was sitting with just kept quiet as to not agree with him or not want to talk politics either way. I eaves dropped on his conversation for a minute and he seem to blame EVERYTHING on the democrats. He was an older white solider with dark\peppered gray hair. Looked really conservative (if there is such a look). Now when talking to the younger soliders (when I say young I mean 19-30) They have alot of questions about why we are here and seem to be more disgusted with the administration. LOL! I remember conversating with one solider when Condi Rice visited the base. Group discussion: "Yeah Condi Rice is visiting thats why security is so tight today." Solider: "Who is that?" :D That was funny. If you go in the bathroom stalls there is a lot of graffiti slamming the war. With some defenders of it. One particular qoute I read while taking a leak said, "I am the willing, led by the unqualified, trying to the do the impossible, for the ungrateful." Some people just dont like to here a whinning solider's and just say, "Hey no one forced you to sign up." I can say I dont know if the comment about sensoring web sites for soliders is true. At least not while I have been here. I work in I.T. and they have pretty much your standard company level access. Of course no p*rn, gambling etc. etc. Take it for what its worth, but like I said I am currently in Iraq. The time now is 9:44pm. May 4th.

    Let me add:
There is good done here. But only in non hot spots (very little of the country in whole) where construction can go on. The soliders give Iraqi kids candy all the time. They've been instructed at times to chill because the insurgents\freedom fighters (whatever you want to call them) can use them as ways to pull soliders into a conflict. However, I have been through the city (not gonna say which one for obvious reasons). It is a slum. Looks like the ghetto straight up. I have been to several of Sadaam's palace compunds. They were absolutely stunning\beautiful. As most American's know, the soliders are doing their jobs. Following their orders. The thing is you cant really do photo op's because it is too dangerous to go out there and do them. I mean can you really say good things are being done in New Orleans? Are good things being done in New Orleans? I am sure there are some things getting done here and there. But On the Grand Scale of things the answer would be not enough to where we should be. The exact same can be said for Iraq.

It'll be interesting to see if the seemingly ever bumbling Democratic machine can capitalize on the ever bumbling Republican machine.
