True. That was the reason some people thought of him as a malcontent. The other thing was free agency. He was not happy. He may not fit in your group of nice guys but he isn't that bad. Time will tell. With him the team might grow. Without him another star is going to take his place. Period.

You are right, Darfur has nothing to do with it. But if you look at DD's post, he somehow connected saying "I'm ready to leave" and not wanting to sign a bball given to him by some random fan into being a lowlife, a phony and just generally a douchebag of a human being:

"He is a phony, a paper tiger.

When he does something without looking for the attention of doing it, then maybe I will cut him some slack.

Because to me, the guy is just about as phony as they come....and I could not be HAPPIER that he is in his last year here.

The sooner that faker leaves the better."

How do you manage to get all of that ^ out a of a simple action? Hell how does getting mad at signing a bball make you into an attention w**** and a faker? The bolded part was the reason I brought up Darfur, because I would say helping out on your own initiative on an issue where people die everyday is more indicative of your general character than refusing to sign a bball.

The irony is that DD accuses Tmac of being a faker when the dude has been doing nothing but speaking his mind without thought to any consequences. He called the Lakers the team to beat while we were still playing, he declared himself injured in training camp, and then he had all this "its on me" talk. More than anything, T-mac should have probably learned "Phony" lessons from MJ and Kobe. If he had said the right things at the right time, then maybe people won't hate him as much.

Well, I guess YAO Ming is a big phony too because he is even worst when it comes to fans and autographs. Seriously, Yao makes T-Mac look like the nicest ball player in the world. Yao has no soul, he turns down little kids, old ladies, you name it. And yes, I'm being serious. Does that make him a phony? I think not.

Oh, sorry Les...I forgot you posted here.

There is plenty of evidence of Tmac being a douche, this just piles more on top of it.....some people don't care about that, wheares I think it is a weakness of character and leads to failure.

    Tmac = David Simms

You know what. Everyone out there can put themselves into the shoes of the fans. But can you think outside the box and think like the superstar?

I feel you man. I'm not dissing Yao nor Tmac. I just think its pretty ridiculous to call somebody a phony when all you know about the person is what we read or see in the media. I think its hilarous how so many people want to tell these millionaires how to live their life when they have never had to live in that type of light. If I were to judge Clutchfan members solely on their post, I'd think most of y'all are huge assholes. But I know that is not the case.......for some people.

Actually I am with you on your comment. I think everybody has their moments of privacy and time to turn it off. Those who dislike the player, they are never going to stop being cynical. You can't please everybody. You can't be liked by everybody. In the case of Yao, I think the Chinese culture taught him to be humble and nice. You don't really know when he is turning to being a jerk. Most of the time he is nice but that you cannot expect that from scratch.
I for one will be intrigued by controversial players e.g. Tracy. He's got that diva attitude but is pretty vulnerable inside. You can say anything about him but you cannot say that he does not love his fans.

You of all pragmatists. Didn't know that humans can't change their demeanor.
btw this little article does say nothing. The story is just tabloid paper material.

Sure, humans can change their demeanor, but those that have experienced what they consider to be huge successes doing something one way are far less prone to changing to another way which is less comfortable.

Hey, if he changes into a good team player and suddenly starts moving off the ball, playing defense, and shooting far few shots at a greater efficiency (which I am convinced he COULD do) then I will apologize.

But, I think more than likely a leopard is not going to change his spots....

Lol. I thought you would bring this up. Don't bother, I mean he hasn't complained about his touches yet. ;)
No need to apologize here but think about what you bash. The man still got a large fan base in Asia. He loves his fans.

New and improved, can't wait to hear:

we just signed Battier to a 3 year extension, and traded TMac....

    ;)

    .....wanna get away?

Heh...the funny thing is Leeb as someone that played sports you know how bad a talented player who is more about themselves than the team can be...

I admit it was a wrong approach but he intended to carry the team by himself. It's the thought that counts. Now I have doubts about 'throwing teammates under the bus' quote. I think he talks too much when he is not playing. It does not help being sidelined the whole season.

You know, I totally agree... It makes no since that a superstar/celebrity from Florida doesn't want to spend time in The Valley.

Everyone loves to travel to the border and chill/meet and greet in The Valley.

tmac isnt the first star athlete to have this sort of behavior. At least he still agrees to these type of autograph sessions after being in the L for this long.

we are all upset at him because he turned to a team rep and blurbed "i'm ready to go." You are acting like he was screaming "this place is a peace of **** and everyone hear smells like they havent showered in weeks, get me the **** out of here!"
