You are correct. I don't think Obama should have embraced it. I'm not trying to paint the Repubs as guiltless, sorry if it came off in the fashion. I think Obama should have consistently countered the Republicans by calling it the Affordable Care Act since it tries to promote affordable healthcare thru competition and price transparency. The ACA is certainly not govt run healthcare like many people seem to believe it is. The Repubs were trying to fan the flames with the Obamacare term since it is paternalistic and self-centered. I may be taking a big leap, but I feel like people believe the ACA is govt run healthcare because of the Obamacare phrase. It implies that Obama (aka the govt) is taking care of everyone.

I dunno...it's all pointless to argue now, but just felt like throwing it out there.

 

He tried that for two years. Talking about what you suggest is not nearly as newsworthy as demonizing it with death panels or the like. He didn't embrace the term until going into the 2012 elections.
