I agree, Fleener's size and athleticism have grown on me. Reminds me of Gronk.

I think they may go Rueben Randle in the 2nd or Alshon if he falls that far.

During the combine the guys on the NFL Network said Cordy Glenn is someone who "would not fit into a team with a zone blocking scheme like the Houston Texans".

How do you know what do you base it on?

Alshon in the 2nd would be fan****ingtastic

Despite what you hear from the media, Gronk can block. Also, he broke the record for TD's by a TE, I think its pretty damn easy to say he's no Gronk. Aside from that I don't think their games are all that similar to begin with.

I would argue Dwayne Allen is more of a powerful, YAC getting, catching the ball in crowed spaces type of TE that this team needs in the Red Zone. Also, since he very good blocker, you keep the defense guessing.

If your looking to replace Dressen or improve that 2nd/3rd TE, he is type of guy you look for for the better value.

People forget that Gronk is extremely good blocking TE. He extremely physical on the point of attack and uses his hands well to get off the line and create some room to run his routes.

I have my opinion on Fleener and of course there are some scouts or draft projectors that will agree with me. Then you have the guys that believe he's over-hyped now that he's getting some pub and some of you will agree with them. Regardless we all think/believe what we want.

I don't see how a guy has build up speed when he runs a 4.4 - 40 as a freakin tight end, on top of that is a main fixture in one of the best offenses in the college game, along with a good running game with a less than spectacular backfield.

I want to see where you guys show him being such a TERRIBLE blocker. The offensive line aren't the only guys that help block in passing situations and I don't remember Fleener having a career college year where he only went out for a pass when the Stanford O planned to throw the ball.

I havent seen film of him blocking...but I'd guess he loses a lot of leverage with his height.

No way Randle falls to us in the second.

In fact, I've seen mocks that have us taking Randle in the first over Wright because of Randle's size.

I know a lot people would question the pick, but I'm okay with taking Randle. He has a lot of potential, and LSU WR's have done surprising well in the NFL. 1st round might be a bit of reach, but if no one will trade not a bad pick.

It's been surprisingly hard to peg where recievers will go this draft. From Michael Floyd (8-16 range) to Kendall Wright (22ish-2nd round range) and even the combine star Stephen Hill (who the hell knows) but no doubt this draft is deep with them.

I know there will be some quality guy available in the 2nd so if the texans choose another player being a BPA I'll be fine with it and see who we have to choose from in the 2nd.

Y'all really think the draft is that deep at WR? I'd rank Floyd #1, then Blackmon. Aside from those 2 everyone else comes off as a WR2 or project (Hill). Don't get me wrong, a good WR2 or slot is important, and I agree there is a lot of depth there in this draft, but the standout talent seems a bit below par IMO.

Just look at the 09 draft - Nicks, Britt, Massaquoi - those guys were considered second tier WR prospects and they all looked like WR1 studs to me. Obviously Massaquoi didn't pan out but he looked better in his college days than the guys we're looking at now, with the exception of Randle.

I can't see more than a few guys playing WR1 out of this draft.

if Floyd is viewed as the #1 WR in this draft, I am all for the Texans making a move to get him. I have read his measurables are consistent with receivers drafted in the top 5, so making a move to somewhere around #15 is well worth the value for me.

for reference swapping 1sts (15 for 26) and throwing in our 2nd rounder (58)

    Texans Picks (26 + 58) = 1020 pts
    Pick 15 = 1,050 pts

the 30pt delta is the equivelant to a 5th rounder

    Pick 5 = 1,700 pts

    that is great value

After hearing smith's presser and how he kept saying it's a deep draft for receivers, i think now we will go with a lb/de in the first round.
I think wade would love the big hands on hightower. he would make a nice addition, especially if he brought his friend that makes cool noises... but a mlb in the first round is too high.

Knowing that wade also loved, aldon smith... what prospects best resembles that type of relenteless pass rusher Maybe the merciless falls?

ahh, i'll just wait for the actual draft. =)

Here is an interesting mock draft from Lance's site. An anonymous NFL coach makes the Texans pick, a guy everyone had at the top of their wish lists- Bruce Irvin! He is fast and could be a nice pass rush specialist to rotate with Reed and Barwin, but this seems high to me and he is a character concern, recently arrested for vandalizing a sign. Not a fan if things fell this way but I would give Wade the benefit of the doubt.
