Yes I've heard them all. Every player goes through a bad quater. Every player goes through a bad game. Every player goes through a bad month. Every player goes through a bad season. Etc, etc, etc. When is the right time to ask this question? Do we want to wait untill he's 40 and trade him for a rotten tomato?
It must be injury. Yao is a mature, veteran NBA player. I refuse to believe it is "mental". Give me a break. Yao isn't a mentally weak youngster who's never faced adversity in the NBA. That guy has been gone for years. He can't jump and he barely moves laterally. It's like Yao is a walking statue, similar to the Utah series in 2006. His foot or knee must be acting up because he's never looked so unathletic. Confidence? Baloney. There is a bigger problem. One of the blocks Przybilla got was totally uncalled for and wouldn't have happened if Yao was completely healthy. Can an insider give us some insight?
What ever it is you know SOMETHING IS WRONG. You can't tell me something is not wrong after watching the last 2 games. He played worst than he was in his rookie year!
hes not dunking at all. can anyone that went to the games tel us if he did the dunk drill where he would do like 10 dunks wiht either hand before the game?
He definitely doesn't look healthy out there. I don't think its just broken confidence. I think there's something physically wrong with him.
It's really unbearable to see Trade Yao thread just after five games. Yao needs to stay healthy in the off season. Get Yao a bench player and he plays too long.
Why do two bad games from Yao deserve calls to trade him? Why are you so obsessed with the idea of trading Yao? Are you a freaking Jazz fan?
Yao played a great game against the Mavericks two games ago. Why are we making these irrational assumptions that Yao is hurt? Yao just needs to get a better offensive rhythm. He only got 13 shots tonight and not that many touches. How can he find a shooting touch with that few touches? The solution is that the Rockets need to keep feeding him the ball.
This thread is not a call to trade Yao Ming. I am not obsessed with the idea of trading Yao Ming. I am a rockets fan and i want my team to do well. I have a legitimate question, that is all.
Morey in an interview before the Boston game said that we should expect Yao to be up and down as he comes back from having surgery. I thought it odd at the time he thought that since Yao had two ok games and one great game but maybe he was on to something. http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Q_And_A_With_Daryl_Morey-287941-34.html Watching the games, it has looked like it's something more than just mental. He has no lift on his shots.
Oh by the way, if I was a Jazz fan I would not want the Rockets to trade Ming seeing that they owned him everytime the Jazz play the Rockets.
All this talk about Yao Ming as the number one center is ludicrous. Except for those two months back in 05-06, hes never played at a dominant level consistently. He is what he is.... a good but not great post player who scores efficiently but can be turnover prone and a liability in certain matchups. At his stage, I would love to get him back to his consistent 20/10 with high shooting %'s.
But we're not just talking about his O, like tinman pointed out, his D is getting much worst this season. He cant grab a rebound and he let people making lay up at will.
