The new xbox sounds very, very impressive.... ... and very, very expensive. Yes, everyone wants to ooo and ahhh over the convergence device. But how much are we willing to pay for the bells and whistles?
Probably ~$300. Maybe a little more, maybe a little less depending on what they include with the console. Basically, it won't cost any more than any other console that has launched and been somewhat successful. And for those who thought the Xbox 360 would be very, very expensive, I'd like to see what they'd think about the PS3.
What the 360 in xBox 360 stands for amount of patches it will need after release times you will have to restart it number of people who can hack it when it's released number of people who can connect the first day money in U.S. dollars it will cost time, in seconds, it takes to load a game amount in MEXICAN PESOS you will be able to buy one with a MOD chip [/list=1]Add what you think the 360 means in the name of the "new" xBox 360. Yes, I am definitely getting an xBOX... for me to poop on!!!
That's just the tip of the iceberg. You begin win ~300 just to get the base unit and one controller, right? ...then you gotta buy another controller, bigger hard drive, and misc. other add-ons. ...Then you gotta buy the games, which will probably cost $50 - $75 each. ...Then you gotta pay for the xbox live service. ... Then you gotta pay for all the various movies and songs that you're gonna download. ...And I'm sure you're gonna have to pay extra to do the video-conferencing, IM, web surfing, telephone, etc.
Of course, but that's how all console makers get back their money, especially during launch. I don't even think the PS2 controllers and memory cards have even gone down in price that much since launch, maybe $5 or so. Although at least Microsoft is offering some type of free Live service to everyone, according to the leaks anyways, so that may be less money to spend.
If you wait a year after launch, they'll either lower it by 50 or bundle it with a game to compete against Sony. I'm reading rumors that a premium Xbox bundle with a hard drive, a dvd remote, and possibly another controller will come in around $360. It probably won't be at launch though.
