You realize that if Yao and T-mac had gone down like this before Morey, we would've been stuck with Juwan Howard, Rafer, Mike James, Ryan Bowen...and not much else.
carl herrera is superstar player and like my fellow superstars such as jordan, isiah and mchale carl knows personnel and will make great gm unlike some sissy mit guy.
Is there any reason why if any poster has a problem with the direction or different opinion that you choose to mock with crazy proposals and misspelling?
I don't understand what you want Morey to do. Tmac is out; Yao is out. You want Morey to trade the all the assets out and tank the season??! If we follow that road, it will take 4-5 years before we even see the playoffs again.
I get what the OP is saying.. Morey's got singles, walks, bunts... bascially compiled a decent OBP. We need some home run hitters tho, ones who are not hobbling nearly every season. Anyone can agree with OP with that sentiment. A question comes to mind though. Has Alex Rodriguez (and the Yankees in recent history) won squat? Okay. Are the Blue Jays giving up Roy Halladay for free? Not exactly. There's only a handful of great players in the NBA, and the teams who have them and the bigger markets, are not giving them up without a fight. Ok, He missed on Brandon Roy. Strike one. When the opportunity arises, he will swing for the fences again. If he continues to swing and miss then we need to put a ? and ! and another ?! after in Morey We Trust. For now, let Morey take some pitches (pun intended). In Morey We Trust
Here is my read on the situation, which is essentially reading the tea leaves or tossing the bones etc... I think Morey is doing the best job he can under limiting circumstances. Les is married to Yao Ming for as long as the big fella can lace em up. I am not sure that is the right formula for winning it all, in fact, it is very risky due to his health issues, and for someone as risk averse as Morey is...it could drive him a little nuts. That being said, as long as Yao can play, or has some hope of being his former self, the team will stay in his corner. Whether you agree with it or not, that is the way it is......the Rockets are going to ride the Yao train as long as possible. DD
Most people who want the Rockets to tank believe that next off season would be the best time to rebuild. A great free agent class and a high lottery pick. All these things are NOT a sure thing. Tanking would not automatically mean the 1st pick and there are no guarantees on the big names in signing with the Rockets. Sure, a lot of people like Houston but with a losing record would that be appealing enough to sign in Houston. You might be right and the team will try to search for the right line up again for a couple of years.
I never said blame him. He officially took over in 07, right? Tracy and Yao have missed a lot of games during that span. He has accumilated some decent players in that span like brooks, landry, lowry, and scola, but we are no closer to the ring than when chuck hayes was starting at pf. I think he can make a blockbuster deal, but he hasn't yet. Its not all about those big moved either, but like I have said before, at some point, he's going to have to either draft a all star talent or trade for one. You can only have so may glue/grit guys.
ok so tell me this, you dont trust in morey because yao got hurt, tmac is recovering, and ron ron is an ass and bailed on us? if we still had our big 3, would you trust?
I like Morey not for the move he made, but the ones he didn't. Big moves can back fire. Look at the trades for Kidd, AI, and Shaq. I don't think Morey will pass along a good deal if the right one comes along, but he doesn't make moves just to make moves, and that's huge.
I agree with that part about riding the yao train, but what does that have to do with pawning off guys like shane and maybe even scola for younger pieces? As soon as they knew Yao would be lost for another season, the roster should change big time. Ariza was a good signing, anderson will be a big disappointment, and wafer is no where in the picture although I think he will be resigned.
You're presumption about the OP could be entirely incorrect. No where has he implied any such thing. He has made one good point that we cannot rely on the return of Yao Ming, and that is something no one can deny. Reaching the 1st round with this team, which is unlikely isn't likely to help us out much. We don't have the cap room for a big FA and no one wants McGrady either.
Morey needs to stop Les's BS. He can do it if he wants to. If his statistics are really great, he can use his fancy degree to make Les even richer. However, Morey has to make Les trade Yao, before Morey does his money making magic.
Anyone that is pining for us to have dumped Yao earlier is delusional. It was never a possibility: due to the nature of Yao as a cultural icon we were either going to win or lose with him. He's not going anywhere for better or worse, and all other possibilities are unrealistic.
les is NEVER going to trade yao so what do you want morey to do? he's doing the best he can. and at the same time trying to appease les knowing yao will never be traded, he's building a team that is in tune w/ today's style of play, building assets for the possibility of a trade for an all-star, and the future. morey HAS to say we're still building around yao b/c he remains the face of the franchise, until he retires. yao is not going anywhere.
Ariza is going to be huge for us. Budinger is going to be a rookie sensation. Scola is going to score more. Brooks is going to light it up on many a point guard. Andersen is going to open some eyes. Landry is going hop right out of the building. Dorsey is going to bring energy with awesome rebounding and dunks. these are Morey's gifts to us. There's a team that's greater than the sum of its parts. Don't need a superstar if everyone of them brings it every night.
