I apparently, am a masochist. I even watched the crap last night. It is painful to realize that I yearn for the first Astros game to wash this stinkin' fish out of my system. Putrid.
I can't believe the people on here that still watch and hope this team is going to progress or get better. You guys are so sad and pathetic. I understand watching cause you are a die hard but you have to be realistic, this team is trash, learning an offense and how to properly rotate on defense does not seem to be something you can just pick up on the fly. You guys are like someone who gets in a relationship with someone who is already in a relationship and hoping things will be different with you cause you think you are so special, NEWS FLASH, you will get cheated on at some point and this version of the Houston Rockets will cheat your heart again and again. Too many flaws and too little F**Ks given. Im with OP, I stopped watching in January, sold all the tickets to games I had purchased and promised I would not spend a dime on this trash of a team again this season, the writing has been on the wall.
i'd rather watch a lineup of our young players (KJ, harrell, Capela, DMo, Dekker) than these guys who get 20+ min a night (howard, terry, brewer). that alone would make watching the rockets much more bearable and we could justify our sucking.
The Rockets have caused me to contract Basketball Impotence. My passion has shrunk to nothing, my hopes are completely limp, and I can't get up enough enthusiasm to even watch.
Some of us tried to warn the rest of you that last season was the result of a perfect storm, but many of you were so drunk, both literally and figuratively, due to post-season success that it clouded your judgement and prevented you from thinking rationally and objectively moving forward. That is why this season is even more of a disaster than it would be on its own.
I've been watching the Rockets since around 1980 (and even before that...just can't remember). This is definitely one of the least interesting Rockets seasons and teams I've watched during that whole period. All the little letdowns and losses just have piled up so high...it's hard to even watch. From the standpoint of winning the big games on the schedule, I can't remember us losing so many of them. I guess we probably have had worse seasons...but worse seasons with all this supposed talent? I don't think so! I think I'll go die of old age now.
i dont see this season the absolute worst rockets season ever. for instance, the yr. b4 we drafted yao @ #1 was worse than this one.
This isn't even close to that second year we had Yao and Tmac and they BOTH got injured. And then every year after that. This year has been rough, but by no means the worst ever. I haven't cried. Yet. I might cry if we don't make the playoffs. The opportunity for four more games and a CHANCE, albeit a low one, to advance in the playoffs is worth more to me than a mid first round draft pick. I want to be the GSW of 2007. I want to be part of the improbable series win. I want to see OUR beard dunk over Dremond (GSW's AK47). I want to see the tears of Okur flowing through Bogut. None of that is possible if we tank to save our first round pick. You gotta play to win.
I hate I told you so statements but a lot of us in the minority kept getting bashed repeatedly. It really only takes a glance around the league to see that there is a consistent pattern to how successful organizations run. The rockets have created a culture that is the antithesis of that.
I agree with this -- in some of the worst seasons in (relative) recent memory, I still paid for expensive tickets at the Staples Center and got excited for Cat Mobley to drop 25 points on the Lakers. It's hard to watch a game this season and I haven't watched since December.
The Rockets ran counter to the concept of system and player development, instead opting for an analytics-based system that plugged in players who fit from an analytics perspective. However, it created an incongruent system much like poorly written code or malware infection. Last years success happened before the inherent bugs in the system really took hold. It's a system that would doom any coach.
There was one of the SF3 and Cat Mobley years where we're playing Cleveland at the end of the season, so close to a playoff birth and SF3 does this half cross court pass that gets picked off, at the end of the game.....and Calvin let out this NOOOOOOOOOOOO scream....this whole season has been that but prolonged over the entire year.
Steve and Cat were expected to go thru tough times. They fought hard trying every game. This team is complete opposite.
I respectfully disagree with you. The 28-54 Rockets lacked talent, but they weren't quitters. We don't have a team this year. I haven't followed the Houston Rockets like many veterans, but I have been following them for 22 years, and I have never seen anything like this. The situation is beyond shocking and unbelievable to me.
