From watching the "Total Bandwith In" stat on my BearShare client while transferring, say, 6 huge files from 6 different fast sites. I can't usually can't rev up that high unless I got a at least 2 or 3 transfers going simultaneously. The fastest speed I've ever seen with a single file transfer is ~300Kbytes/sec. Upstream speed (as seen in Bearshars) sucks, though. I've realized I can only upload one file to one person, and the upstream bandwith out fluctuates wildly between 0kbps and ~150kbps. I did a lot of PC-To-Phone voice stuff during the flood, and I had no trouble with the upstream speed for that. [This message has been edited by jamcracker (edited June 23, 2001).]
jamcracker, The upstream is capped at @Home to about 128kbps I believe. I'm guessing it's capped for RoadRunner, too. ------------------ "I had mine chewed off by a boss one time." -- Behad leaves us wondering if he gets hazard pay...
jamcracker.. i was wondering because now that they are owned by same company.. has aol started to become more like roadrunner.. or roadrunner become more like aol.. have there been major changes since it turned into aol time warner.. ------------------ Shane "Save Our Rockets" "Life without basketball in Houston........without an arena that is what it will be"
i dont think there have been any major changes. Road runner isnt just limited to warner cable. In certain areas warner cable provides it, but in other areas different companies provide it. ------------------ "The early bird may get the worm, but so does the bird that finished off the tequila bottle the night before"
I have Road Runner and its more than worth the 39.99 i pay a month for it. I would give my left nut rather than go back to aol if i had to. Aol is the worst interenet provider, msn a close second. Also my view on hackers is of course to have atleast one anti-hacker program, but really if u just stay away from talking ot them, messing with them or going to the websites, they have bigger fish they want to mess with ------------------ "The early bird may get the worm, but so does the bird that finished off the tequila bottle the night before"
