Live Free and Die Hard There is nothing new and creative in this movie compared with the other ones in the Die Hard sequle. Same antics , stunts as well as stranded father/daughter relationship etc. I was sitting through the whole movie wishing Bruce Willis got his arse whacked but in vain.
What? Independence Day is up there with the greats. Saw it on July 4 and it still sent chills up my spine. Whoever mentioned Ultraviolet is right on the money. I actually tried to watch that movie through twice in one day and failed miserably each time. I fell asleep before the movie was halfway through. Absolutely horrible. Terrible plot, horrible character development -- the movie literally lulls you to sleep. Never believed a superhero movie with tons of graphic effects could do that, but this one did.
Man, some serious Big Trouble in Little China apologists here. It may indeed be quotable, but make no mistake it is HORRIBLE. Perhaps horrible yet watchful, but it would require a lot of mind altering substances. Also, must highly concur on the Village. I literally demanded a refund and received one, something I've never done anything like.
To those who didn't like Big Trouble in Little China I can only assume you didn't realize it wasn't to be taken seriously...it is one funny movie. On a side note I met the guy who played David Lo Pan about a month ago - I was clearly too excited to meet him. As for worst movies ever - try sitting through Booty Call...truly terrible.
Probably technically the worst movie I ever saw was something like Metal Storm: The Destruction of Jared Syn...which I saw as a pre-teen...but since I actually enjoyed that kind of crap at the time its hard to see it that way. I saw a critically acclaimed thing called Metropolitan....which did not entertain me even a little when I watched it in the theater. Then years later I forced myself to watch an hour of it on cable...because it "couldn't possibly" be as bad as I remembered. If anything it was worse, no entertainment value whatsoever. I don't care for quite a bit of stuff that people have already mentioned, esp Joe Vs the Volcano and Napolean Dynamite. But at least I can see how they might have entertained others...and I was reasonably diverted while I was watching them. But Metropolitan is 3 hours of my life I want back dammit.
Battlefield Earth and Armageddon must rank among some of the worst. But I think my vote for worst would have to go to Cabin Boy. Actually, there's a much worse movie called Extreme Limits (aka Crash Point Zero) that is so awful, it's actually fun to watch and make fun of (kinda like MST3K)
I like how some people display unintentional irony by listing movies that they DIDN'T SIT ALL THE WAY THROUGH...implying they perhaps didn't bother reading the thread title all the way through. Worst movie I have sat through in a theater (not sure about at home...usually don't sit through bad movies if I can just change the channel or stop a film) was The Pest, easily. This movie spoiled me on John Leguizamo for a LOOOONG time. He has had some decent roles and been in good movies since, but I couldn't enjoy them for years because just seeing him reminded of how much I hated that movie.
Man Shipwreck, We seriously disagree on movies. Voigt's performance in Anaconda is legendary in the I'm-in-on-the-joke-of-this-movie category. remember when he winks after getting spit out by the snake? Pure awesomeness. Also awesome in Anaconda is that the director clearly hates Eric Stoltz as much as most of the audience, so he has him get stung in the neck by a nasty insect in the first five minutes, then shows him rolling around in pain, with no lines, off and on throughout the rest of the movie. That is pure genius.
