b/c tmac NEVER says that. and the way he says it in his blog sounds like a rookie just coming up to the NBA. and his dream was not to play in the NBA, but the MLB so that's false already.

this blog, only a few wordings are wrong, but the rest sounds like the typical yao interview pruyen posts.

and jealous is jealous. yao described yao what he feels when he is jealous. he wanted the attention tmac got to. simple as that. i don't blame him. jealousy is a natural human feeling.

and for tmac to be honored??? unless tmac is an egotistical punk that he should.

    That is your subject feeling.

How do you know 'tmac NEVER says that'? Why hasn't he come out to claim it?

I do think chinese people are very kind. When Tmac's blog was post here, they said they don't believe Tmac said those words, and Tmac is a nice guy. When Yao's interview was post here, they explained the words that Yao said, and try to say there is still a good relationship between Yao and Tmac. I think that is gentlemen's behavior.

That means only one thing: Pryuen picked the wrong English word in his translation. He should use "admiring" rather than "jealous" in his translation. Because in English jealous is jealous, there is no such thing that jealous means admiring. So if there are two meanings in Chinese, please pick the correct corresponding in English.

it's not jealous, it's admiring, so pick the correct word.

b/c most of the tmac fans on here follow him throughout his career. if he was to say that, he would say that during his orlando days and even then he never did.

he has said MANY times when he came to houston his goal is not to avg 30 pts or score 30 pts any longer. so why the hell would he suddenly say i can score 50 pts anytime i want?

and the other point is his "dream to play in the NBA." he has REPEATEDLY said throughout his career his ultimate dream is to play professional baseball. hell, he repeated that recently in the offseason in a radio interview. he also said he wanted to pursue baseball after he finished his basketball career.

so now u see how illogical those statements are from tmac if they did indeed come from tmac? they don't make sense.

trust me, the asian culture is full of jealousy. have u ever heard of asian parents talk about their kids?

one parent would say, my kid goes to yale. then the other parent would try to say my kid goes to harvard. and he's going to pursue med school... then they keep it back and forth.

    another 'lost in translation' excuse.

BTW, In the article Yao didn't call T-Mac 'unstable'. He called Tracy "an unstable element" :D . It reminds me a famous chinese propaganda - "all unstable elements need to be nipped in the bud".

I guess pryuen intentionally leave out the 'element'.

Sometimes, Tmac did say some wired words. Didn't he say 'all on me' before playoff? Then he got one point in the first half of the first game, and all pressures were on Yao's shoulder. I do think Yao used the word 'jealous' is a honor to Tmac. If I was Yao, I would have used the word 'disappoint'.

In addition, I feel this interview is a response that Yao made to Tmac's blog in Sina. Because that blog was originally post in CHINESE media, it is necessary for Yao to make a response to it as long as Tmac didn't claim it is false. To be honest, I think Yao's response is in a very gentleman's way. Tmac can say those words in Amercian's media, but not in Chinese media.

haha this thread cracks me up... Honestly knowing how humble Yao is IMO i believe he meant ENVY Jealousy and envy are pretty close.. not exactly the same word but close. So I personally take it that he envys T-mac cause he can close out games the way he does. Everything else is lost in translation.

Well I think it's a good thing to be open and honest about feelings of jealousy between the two superstars. Of course Yao has reason to feel jealous of the way the American media tends to show more 'love' and cut T-Mac more slack then him. And of course I'm sure T-Mac is jealous of the fact that he has never and never will get more All-Star votes than Yao, or ever be bigger on the international stage than his fellow partner in crime-- Olympics, endorsements, global image, etc....
As long as these feelings never undermine the way they play together and they try to get wins, it's all good!

I'm pretty sure both guys have more important things on their minds than responding to and/or disproving the validity of some fake Chinese blog...
