I have had quite a few talks with Yankees fans here in Albany about the importance surrounding postseason pitching. Before Oswalt had been traded to the Phils, many Yanks lamented about how great a power hitting team they have coupled with perhaps the best pitcher in baseball and one of the best relievers in the past 25 years, especially in postseason. However, the Yanks ain't the same team pitching wise as they were in 2009, especially with Pettitte's injury.

    Postseason records:

    Pitcher W-L ERA
    Oswalt 4-0 3.66
    Hamels 5-3 3.86
    Halladay - -
    Blanton 2-0 3.89

    Sabathia 5-4 4.40
    Pettitte 18-9 3.90
    Hughes 1-1 5.25
    Burnett 1-1 5.27
    Vasquez 1-1 10.34

Rivera's September slump doesn't concern me as much as Lidge's confidence.

I've got Philles over Yanks in the WS.
