Review embargo is up, and it's getting some good press: http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt/critic-reviews <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/e4-H3VTmhLQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Undecided whether I'll try to play at launch, or wait a bit. I'd like a patch or two to fix some of the issues the reviews mention, especially since I'm still playing other games. Plus I don't have a PC ready to play this. I could play on PS4, but think I'd rather play on PC.
Preloaded on GOG. Thankfully the release date is after all my finals. I can escape from reality in the Witcher universe while I get all my grades back and fail all my classes.
I played the Witcher 2 for about 80 hours. I think the $3 sale price is pretty fair. I am definitely getting the Witcher 3. The only question is PS4 or PC.
Gamespot review score for Witcher 3.... 10/10 You can get the PC version for about $20-25. They come free with new Nvidia Graphic cards and many people sell the codes for $20-25.
I'm looking forward to this - I'm holding tight on it until it hits the $20 range because I've got tons of other Steam stuff to play through while I wait for a deal, but the improvement from 1 to 2 has me really hopeful for the third installment. Generally I'm a bit of a Bioware only lover of RPGs - but this game's creators are really good at what they do.
This might tide me over until the next Elder Scrolls game... I wish there were more physics based objects, player houses and a wider range of ways to play, combat and otherwise.
I've never played Witcher before but thinking about buying this game. Can someone give me a rundown? From what I can tell you don't need to play the first two, which is good for a noob like me.
From the reviews I've read, they provide relevant information from the previous two games for you. Supposedly they weave that into this story pretty well so you won't feel left out if you've never played it. But the story is my favorite part of the first two games so you might want to do it anyway. And they can both be had for under $5 so what do you have to lose.

I've put in an hour so far. Amazing game. Makes every other AAA game look like a complete joke.
Glad I have this game to take my mind off the last two Rocket games. I'm like 10 hours into the game, and so far it has exceeded my expectations which were pretty high to begin with.
I'm trying to finish Dark Souls II, but I can't see a friggin thing in this undead crypt and it might take me two weeks to get out of there.
Finished. 8.5 out of 10. It's wide open free play works, never feeling like I left the story to do side missions or grunt work. The good: Girls are hot and complicated Open world is inviting and free, not a chore. Looks fantastic Great killing finishes By the end of it all the main characters come together nicely and you feel like you know them, though it takes some time to get that feeling. Side missions can be interesting Cut scene story reminders very helpful. Some monsters fun. Good dialogue and voice acting. Witcher sense works pretty well. Batman cooler, but adds a nice element. Meeting side characters a 2nd time after the result of your action often satisfying. I thought the group battle and planning was well designed and not complicated to execute, although not terribly strategic, it worked fairly well. The Bad: Story somewhat hard to follow with so many characters and names. And not an awe inspiring story ( like a huge dragon at the end or something ) Way too many dogs and sea critters to fight compared to more fun critters to fight. I'd prefer to create my own character than use Geralt Trying to learn combat in the middle of combat was a bad idea. There is so much alchemy and upgrading, you almost give up trying to figure out to make the next item. Needs to be a little easier. Trying to find the right potion in my menu seemed a bit annoying. The game ought to recommend one to you rather than make me look through 20 potions to find the right one. Swimming to underwater treasure a bit of a chore. I'd like to stumble into more stories randomly, as opposed to contracts. Finding the stores to sell stuff seemed a bit chore-ish. I'd still like to see the world change on a big scale based on what I've done or not done. Seems like the signs never visually advance like in most magic games. Overall it was an enjoyable experience, and invited me along as I progressed. Which a big deal for an open world game that expansive. Good fun.
