First, good topic ! To me Tmac's window is irrelevant, it is Yao's window that the team should be looking at. I say we have 7 years to win it, and Tmac may be a part of it, or he might not be. The team will continue to translate from Tmac's team to Yao's team, to where there will be enough perimeter attacking players around Yao that eventually Tmac will be able to be replaced, or can take on a much lesser support type of role - ala David Robinson. Don't get me wrong, I think Tmac is great, but I think his personal TOP athletic window is about 2-3 years, but I believe that he can win by not being the focal point..... So, to me, Yao's window is more important. DD
T-Mac is also one of those guys that will blurt out what he's feeling at the time. When his contract is up we should have a solid supporting cast because we will actually start developing our draft picks again, Yao should be the most dominate inside and out center ever by then, and if he still sees a ring or two in his grasp, he'll stay for sure. If not, he'd be easily replaceable at that point with a max contract available for whomever wants to play with Yao.
I agree with DD, Riley Dog, and Rocket River. Yao is our championship window... not T-mac. It is much easier to replace T-mac with great swingmen, or a committee of good swingmen.
i agree. am i the only one more concerned about yaos health than tmacs? over the last seasons yao has been injured for more games than anyone on the team besides sura tmac does not have a huge frame to drag around and hes more atheltic by nature than yao is and big men always struggle more with foot injuries i think yaos talent has peaked and i think he will have a shorter career as a great player than most people think
