There are some good games for Wii, you just have to be aware of them. The last year was pretty much crap though (except for Punch Out). Natal looks interesting, but it remains to be seen if anything will come of it. Same for Sony's 'sticks'. Clearly, though, control schemes are moving forward in the future.
This looks pretty tight... damn didn't know E3 had already started, when does it end? and has Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft all done their presser/key notes?
The major press conferences already ended (Microsoft yesterday, Nintendo and Sony today). But the E3 show didn't start until today. I forgot how long it is supposed to be, but probably up to Thursday or Friday I guess. Haven't really had a chance to check out this stuff yet. Might comment on it later (possibly in the E3 since it might be more active at that point).
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/989/989269p1.html There are some hands on impressions from IGN and they have very positive things to say about it. The tech can be great and all but what ultimately matters is the software. Nintendo had the perfect software (Wii Sports) bundled in with their system to show it off and get everyone hooked. Natal is supposed to work with every existing 360 and once released, is supposed to come bundled in with new 360's. Now MS needs that one game that can really show off this tech. The possibilities are endless with this tech though. It's like Minority Report with Skynet. The Milo project by Peter Molyneux is some seriously impressive AI. Perhaps one day NPC's might have that type of AI to communicate with inside games. I like the direction Microsoft is going. The future of gaming looks damn cool!
What I like about it is how they take its applications beyond gaming to interactive video conferencing. It's also intriguing that you might be able to talk to your entertainment center and tell it what movie or song you want it to play ... some freedom from the unergonomic confines of the traditional remote controller.
I like the video conferencing. That's a neat feature. The entire system is intriguing, and very neat, but it does have some theoretical flaws (like sports games). I think one thing holding this thing back is the sensitivity of it. Another is whether programmers and developers from third parties will be able to make a good game for this thing. That's something that I think the Wii is having trouble with...
Let me know when Xbox gets the rights to use Nintendo's characters. Until that happens, Wii won't die.
Wii can be fun, but have you ever played sports games on them? the EA games are completely dumbed down versions and completely suck. if this motion detection controller stuff forces games to be simpler, then that would suck for the 360 and be a complete waste of graphics and hardware.
Ehh...I'm well aware of No More Heroes. In fact, I used to be so much more of a nerd about games that I actually made a box art mock up shortly after the first footage and screens came out. By the time the game was actually out, I lost interest...
You consider that halfway? Zelda, Mario and Metroid are the big Nintendo properties. Most people probably wouldn't even associate Perfect Dark with Nintendo. I didn't even know that the Perfect Dark game was exclusively Nintendo until your post. Unless you were being sarcastic and I didn't pick up on it.
I completely agree with this - I wanted to throw up when I discovered that Madden and NBA Live were ruined in their port. The exception is Tiger Woods, which is honestly reason enough to buy a Wii.
yea I was, forgot the at the end heh i was joking around since Microsoft owns Rare for first party games, at least i think they still do, from what I remember there was a whole hoopla about it a few years back since the original developers left the company to persue other interest I don't think Mario/Zelda/Metriod will on any other console in the near future, but then again, we did see a Sonic game on a Nintendo system and we thought that'd never happen. (Note: I'm not saying that Nintendo is going under like Sega, so don't think I'm starting an argument here, other than anything's possible) what Rare should really bring back is Killer Instinct, love to do some 50+ hit combos and combo breakers
Killer Instinct was the last fighting-style game in the vein that I really got into. I started out on SF2, loved the original Mortal Kombat (and its sequel) and enjoyed Primal Rage and Killer Instinct but then quickly grew bored with the genre. It would be some nostalgic fun to see another Killer Instinct come about.
...huh? How is it "cheap?" The "cheapest" model is $400, and you can get standalone blu-ray players now for $200 or less. And if you're talking about quality, it's also one of the better players on the market.
I can't imagine that the MS motion sensor works as well as they show. I bought a Wii, we played it for about a month, then it wasn't turned on again for about a year, finally sold it. I'm a 360 guy all the way, if Sony put a good price cut on the ps3 I will probably pick one up though.
Well it was $299 for me about 6 months back. You really need to keep up with fatwallet.com / slickeals.net and sites similar like these. Mine was a 80GB model to boot. I needed a Blue-ray player for my LCD and I figured if one averages $250 for a Blue-Ray player might as well pay $50 more and get a Ps3. Really the only reason why I bought it ... But now I have some games on it mainly Street Fighter IV. I just wished Sony would put much more resources into online content.
I don't want to start a new thread, but we are going to buy a Wii in the next week or so. I want to get Wii fit also. We haven't had any video game system in a long time and I was able to talk my wife into it and she insists that it has to be Wii. Anyway, there are some pretty good deals on Craigslist with console, fit, accessories, and games. I wouldn't mind going that direction but my wife thinks that we should buy new. Would a gently used Wii be worth saving the extra money or should we go new?
