In my view, there are only about 10 great acts in Rock history... ones that not only produced great music but also influenced culture beyond what is expected of a musician or group...

    Chuck Berry
    Elvis
    The Beatles
    The Rolling Stones
    The Who
    Jimi Hendrix
    Pink Floyd
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
    The Police
    U2

The Who has more iconic images out there than any band except per haps The Beatles...

Just watch the 3 or 4 (or however many there are) CSI shows - all their themes are Who songs.

The answer to the question is yes, I love them. I have all of their studio albums except for the last one. Sorry, but when you lose your original rhythm section (both Moon and Entwistle are dead, unfortunately), I have lost interest in any "new" stuff you do.

Rock my man, I said Rock. Not Music. (I don't really consider him a Rock act.)

They're pretty overrated. They have some great songs, but a lot of their stuff didn't do much for me, and I tried really hard to get into them.

    Best Who songs:

    Magic Bus (Live at Leeds)
    Jaguar
    Early Morning, Cold Taxi

I love the song "Baba O'Reilly"

Pearl Jam covering it live got me onto it.

What's even more of a trip is that Tony Iommi was in Jethro Tull for a few weeks (that's him on the right):

I did until I got The Who, Live at the Isle of Wight. If you ever find it its as good as Live at Leeds but has almost all of Tommy done live.

I used to think The Who were overrated but I can't imagine how someone could actually believe that when I hear it now. If you strictly listen to the "hits" or what the label or radio considers the hits, then you're missing out on the best Who music.

Quadrophenia is one of the greatest masterpieces ever recorded and it wasn't until I listened to it straight through did I realize how good these guys are. To a man, The Who are up there with anyone as the best musicians in rock. I'd put them in my top 10 favorites.
