Medicaid is available only to certain low-income individuals and families who fit into an eligibility group that is recognized by federal and state law. Medicaid does not pay money to you; instead, it sends payments directly to your health care providers. Depending on your state's rules, you may also be asked to pay a small part of the cost (co-payment) for some medical services. ("Medicaid At-A-Glance 2005" may be downloaded from the bottom of the page.)[/b]

Social Security certainly sends money to the disabled, but Medicaid shouldn't be doing so in any way.

DUDE. For the last f***ing time, I don't give a rat's ass how it is written, it has been so poorly and egregiously manipulated that my uncle can't even stop the payments from coming in.

It is our gov'ts. money being used for the better good.

I DON'T have an explanation as to why it hasn't stopped. I just know it hasn't, and it can't. We've tried.

EDIT. And Medicaid DOES send money to disabled people!

I'd be will to bet that Fatty's uncle is receiving SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance). I'm not sure if it is means tested.

I do not think SSDI is means tested, if he is receiving that, that's fine.

Fatty are you sure its Medicaid? I think Gifford is right that he might be receiving SSDI. Everyone is eligible to get Social Security benefits free of means testing. As far as complaining about this as being a problem I can believe that some bureacratic snafu might result in getting unwanted aid but if your uncle is serious about not wanting the money has he considered donating it to charity?
