    Basically it doesnt matter.

As long as we get into the playoffs as say a #6 seed, anything is possible in a series.

Behind Kobe, T-Mac is the best superstar in the Western Conference. And Kobe nearly single handedly wrecked a top 3 WC team in phoenix this year.

The top 3, spurs, mavs, phx, dont have a legit clutch superstar like we do.

Our season rises and falls with T-Macs health.

You're more optimistic than me. I'm expecting David Wesley, Richie Frahm, Keith Bogans and Moochie Norris.

You dont think Yao and a legit big time scorer like James can take us to the playoff while Tmac is resting his back. More load on Tmac, more fragile his back going to be.

Hey I'm just saying anything is possible.
    Gotta keep hope alive.

    Cant think about the
MJ-TMAC-GAY-SWIFT-YAO lineup that would dominate the west easy without crying.

    Let me live the dream

i think we're a playoff team with T-Mac and Yao, but not that close to contention. we're another first round exit waiting to happen UNLESS we get the luck of the draw like what yaoluv said and end up as the #6 seed.. that's still a big MAYBE

i really see no one who can pass to yao or tmac.
gay and swift - two guys who can only dunk and do nothing else

Nothing certain in playoff whether Rockets end up sixth seed or not. Once in the playoff the chances are there for Rockets to win the Championship. Remember anything can happen, that is the reason there is a word, SURPRISE.

Other way around buddy... Phoneix will stop no one b/c they only play offense. They don't know what the word defense means! They are such an overrated team!

Houston has absolutely no bench scoring right now. backup PF is Hayes, backup SF is Rybo, backup SG is Bogans?, backup PG is Head?, backup C is Mutombo. no 6th man! they can't win if they're only scoring for 3 quarters of the game.

    I don't think we're very good shape.
If we added Gay, kept Swift and added James I'm thinking we're either contending this year and possibly for years to come.
As we stand now, I'm not feeling to good.
I do think we can make the playoffs, but I feel that after Yao and T-Mac we're very very shaky. Much shakier than what the Heat had from their supporting cast.

Yea, our dept problem wouldn't be as much of a problem (not solved by any means) if we didnt make the draft day trade

I think we are gonna suck! I'm pretty pissed off about the whole mike james thing and i think we are gonna lose in the 1st round! =( Anyways, i needed to vent! haha I think we should be ok maybe 8th place. I'm afraid about mcGradys back and I feel that Phoenix, Dallas, Mini, Both LA's, Nuggs, SA, will be better... sad but possibly true! =( lets hope we can get a decent free agent!

How would having Gay instead of Battier have made our team more of a contender this year.

My Prediction: McGrady is gonna continue having back problems...probably get worse.

Team Outlook: they fail to make playoffs.

You know, the Miami Heat's starting lineup last year averaged 81.0 points per game. If we had this starting lineup:

    Yao
    T-Mac
    Alston
    Battier
    Howard

Based on their last season averages, that's 80.7- and this is with Yao averaging 22 (which might or should go up). With a bench of Head, Hayes, Bogans, and then throw in maybe Novak, perhaps Banks and/or Jeffries, you're looking at a team that can average 100 points per game.

    Defensively, who's better?

    Wade
    Williams
    Haslem
    Walker
    Shaq

We could say that Yao is better than Shaq, Walker and Howard are even, Haslem and McGrady are even, Battier is better than Wade, and Alston-Williams is a draw. If we're modeling ourselves after the champs, shouldn't this work?

Only problem we have is that we're in the Western Conference, so it's tougher to have a top seed, and the rule changes give more power to the perimeter players.

All I'm saying is that Yao, McGrady, Battier, Howard, and Alston is NOT THAT BAD. I don't buy that 1-2 window thing. I believe our window is more 4-5 years. I think we can make a good playoff run with this team.

Every year is different. I watched Shaq, Kobe and co. get killed by the Jazz, Jordan and the Bulls get thrashed by the Pistons, Duncan and the Spurs get taken apart by the Lakers, etc. Year 1- Yao and McGrady take us to Game 7 of the 1st Round. Year 2- injuries to everyone from Yao to Mac to Alston decimate the team. Year 3- ? Year 4- ?

We should just all take a break from basketball until October and have a renewed attitude.

Without anymore help we are shooting to be 9th. in the WEST. with three additional scorers that can average 30 point per game between them I think that we could be 6th or 7th in the WEST. It also depends on the mind set of our coach [JVG] If he is going to run the Big Man's Game then Yao Ming might surprise us! If he is going to play the no plan game, where Yao Ming is only involved , sometimes as an after thought [ like early last year] and Tracy is only playing 70% of the season then I expect us to be in the exact same position as this offseason.

    Alston / Sura (?) / Lucas
McGrady / Head / Resigned Wesley?
    Battier / Novak / Bowen
    Howard / Hayes
    Yao / Mutombo

This team is supposedly built to "win now".

What the #%$@ is that lineup supposed to win? 45 games?
