The Warriors Loss Shows Why You Cannot Build a CONSISTENT Championship Team That Relies on the Three

Biggest game ever in their careers due to the historic implications of their regular season, and the widely acknowledged best 3 point shooting team in the NBA comes up short on the 3 pointer time after time in the second half.

You need consistency in the playoffs in order to win. That's why everyone talks about the half court game, and how everything slows down. Yet, the 3 is the most inconsistent shot you can take on the court. The two simply don't mesh.

Is this a snide dig at D'antoni? Yes. Worst possible coaching decision hiring a guy who doesnt coach defense and practicaly begs everyone to chuck up 3's the minute they cross the halfcourt line.

Is this a snide dig at Morey? No. It's a pretty blatant dig at his analytical "mid range jumpers are a waste" philosophy.

A basket is a basket. The easiest baskets to make in a game are the dunk/layup, free throw, and mid range jumper. Build a team that attacks the basket consistently (on drives or post ups) and can hit the 18 foot jumper. Not even gonna bother mentioning defense because look at who the coach is.

If we play like the Warriors we'll only win one title and then 73 games. Thanks but no thanks.

Bogut is very important for GS on defense and offense.
    GS's clutch 3p is always from Bogut's P&R

Wrong. This NBA championship showed how the battle is fought and won in the media, not on the court.

Curry became the media darling first before he won it all. But he got outgunned by Lebron, the media heir to Jordan and Kobe. All of a sudden the moving screens were getting called, and the physicality shifted onto the side of the Cavaliers. The court of public opinion spoke, and it was tired of GSW fans. We wanted a feel-good Cleveland story, and that's what Stern/Silver gave us.

If Houston is to have any hope at winning an NBA title, it will have to do a much better job on the propaganda front. A bickering Les and Morey, while Harden is off chasing the biggest booty, will only gain us notoriety and make the NBA all too happy to set us up for more failure.

In the NBA, perception is reality.

A mid range shot is only good in context. You either have to be in a nice mismatch where you can shoot over your opponent or your completely open.

If either of those two circumstances are missing, then you should be shooting a three.

Oh plus D'antoni's offense doesn't take as many threes as you think... You will see plenty of wide open mid range shots.

dude, Kyrie won the game with his late-game 3pter.

You gotta have a complete game plan. To have options for when the offense dies. With Lebron patrolling the inside, GSW could not execute sending their guards inside the lane. Besides which, they were down by 3 and needed a 3pter.

If you have a two way player like LeBron, you can win a championship.

I mean if the Rockets ever had a dude who was good at both ends of the court, we'd win back to back championships...

    oh wait

You mean Bogut's P&R illegal screening to get a shooter open?

The problem with the Warriors is they played the best player on the planet with a healthy roster at the peak of his game. Is he the best physically now? No but lebron is playing his best ball because the game is moving slow and his pace now.

But you can win with the way the Warriors play. Spurs have been doing it for almost 20 years. The Warriors problem is their best player is a 6'3 170lb pg. It's hard to win when your best player is never going to be a ace around the hoop no matter how good he is from behind the arc.

Curry is great im not going to jump on the bandwagon of ppl saying he's a one trick poney because that's BS. But he's not lebron he's not top 10 or even top 25 alltime. He can be contained. He's fallen in love with the 3 and its bit him in the but this post season. His teamates bailed him out all playoffs and he never stepped up for them in the biggest moments at all.

Klay is good not great same with draymond. There are super/Allstar level role players. Steph is the star and rightfully so but he did not step up and produse for his team. IT didn't matter that Klay only had 14 or that draymond had a huge game. Steph didn't come thru all finals when it mattered.

This post is true and very hard to swallow for basketball purists. Shifting officiating priorities and rule interpretations dictated by media perceptions are the huge black mark on the Association that I hate being in the game I love.

I definitely think one title, 73 wins, being up 3-1, and it coming down to either side in the last minute shows you the Warriors plan is super flawed. Crazy flawed

I think the at thunder series was more of an indictment on the Warriors style than this one. This was about one team folding and the other taking advantage. Just like the Thunder folded.

And you can still be a great player and fold. Steph is still great. KD is still great. But being in that category of giving up 3-1 leads is definitely a black mark that the all time greats don't typically have. I actually think the Thinder would have beat the Cavs but no reason even really thinking about it.

Warriors will be amazing again next season unfortunately.
