it seems that sony doesnt care about the gamer, they only care about pushing their products. ps3 = bluray pusher us gamers wanted online Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, Microsoft delivered.
That might actually be more of a possibility than you might think, although I also doubt it will happen. Best we'll get in 2007 is a $100 price cut and maybe the reintroduction of the 20GB SKU (so a $400 PS3 on the market). Unless there is no reaction to a $100 price cut, it would probably be best to cut the price twice than all at once. You mean exclusives going multiplatform, or 3rd party devs dropping PS3 support altogether? I can see the former happening with MGS4 and FF (despite how Kojima and Square-Enix comment on how exclusive the games are and how difficult it would be to port), but the latter probably wouldn't happen anytime soon unless 360 sales REALLY start to pick up (especially in places outside of the US).
I'm sure it has more to do with 360 already being out for over a year and having WAY more games than PS3. Halo 3 will be huge for 360 but not sure how GTA IV will make things worse for PS3. With that said, there are a bunch of highly anticipated games coming out for PS3 this year (Metal Gear, Strangehold, Socom, Final Fantasy, etc...)
He's referring to the fact that because GTA IV is on the 360, those previous players of the franchise on PS2 won't feel the need to rush out and buy a PS3 to play the next gen version. Or that if they do feel the need to rush out and buy it, they might spring for the $200 cheaper 360.
HaHaHaHa. Ummmm Yea that's SONY that delivered online Mortal Kombat II. How can you say that when we are just a couple days removed from their gaming conference when then went over a close to 20 game lineup? Home will earn the PS3 a lot of good exposure when it comes out and the Killzone online Beta test should attract a lot of attention as well. While not for the gamer, Singstar will appeal to families and younger people while sony is trying to pimp Blue-ray. You really have to wait until the 2nd holiday season to make a good assessment of the system. Hopefully, we'll see more in the coming months of what is to come for the PS3 this winter.
What kind of attention, though? Are you talking to PS3 owners? Well...yeah, I guess I could see that. But beyond that very few are going to drop money on a PS3 for a Killzone beta and outside of the fanbase not many people are going to get too hyped for the game initially. I don't think a Killzone beta is going to have much of an impact. Not sure what you mean here. 'Assessment of the system' is different from 'performance of the system'. I don't think I'd even have to wait until the second holiday...I fully expect there to be stuff I want to play on the PS3 at some point, and it will have some quality software. That's the reason I will own one down the line when the price drops considerably. But if we're talking sales and userbase; if the system continues to get outsold 3X by the Wii and 2X by the 360, two holidays from now is going to be much too late for Sony to make an impact on the market with the PS3.
I actually do think it's a possiblity, but I don't think there is any way they would do it. Given their recent PSP price cut though, I'm not even sure they would cut off a hundred. I mean both. If Wii comes out on top, devs will move more of their resources to support the low end hardware, which means the wii will get more exclusives and the other systems less. If PS3 continues to struggle, 360 and PS3 will probly end up sharing most of what 3rd party support they get so the 3rd parties have a better chance of making money on the games for the next gen hardware.
Major lesson here: don't over reach with new technology. The assembly issues and cost kill the pros of the capability. A PS2.5 @$350 would have done worlds better than this. They got a little too ahead of the curve. Evan
Dude, the xbox360 has ULTIMATE MORTAL KOMBAT! not II what about Virtual Fighter for PS3? NO ONLINE! The fighting gamers system is not ps3.
Actually I've seen several articles that they're discontinuing the 20GB model. I don't believe Sony style or whatever it's called even carries it anymore.
Stranglehold is 360/PS3, although I guess the PS3 version may be the one to get (Hard Boiled on Blu-ray! ). FF won't be out this year, although there may be a demo. I wonder how many systems could be moved by demos for FF and GT5? BTW, I'm not even sure if MGS4 will make it out this year. With Sony's planned Fall schedule, I'm almost hoping it doesn't....OK, not really, I really need MGS4. I more or less agree. And actually, I'm not even sure how much a Beta could really move systems anyway. It isn't like the 360 has seen a boost in sales these past few months in preparation for the Halo 3 Beta. So I doubt a KZ Beta would really move systems either, especially when those systems cost $600. I'm glad they didn't do that though. I probably would have changed a few things about the PS3 though to make it more appealing to gamers (although it would probably end up being worse overall...at least IMO). With the PS2 still selling well, they're kind of doing both actually. VF having no online is a choice by the developers, and I'm guessing that will lead to it being offline-only on the 360 as well. AM2 is paranoid about making their games online I guess (see VT3 by AM2 and by Sumo Digital to understand this). At this point, I don't think any of the systems are good for fans of fighters. You know, I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a TT2, and that motorcycles are included in GT5. I could have sworn that I read them discussing the possibility of having both in a single game. Maybe they can add motorcycles via a add-on pack through the PSN or something if they can't include them in the initial release for GT5. Sony officially announced this a while back (think I even made a thread?). He was probably responding to my comment about them bringing it back in the Fall, together with a $100 price cut.
I'm surprised no one has any faith in the PS3 rebounding. This thing is the real deal. It's not like the 3DO or Saturn. I think there are many more gamers waiting for the price to drop than those gushing for a Halo 3, which plays to the same crowd as GoW and their original Xbox fanbase. It's also why I think KZ isn't going to make waves on the PS3.
What? What re-design? A PSP re-design is practically guaranteed to hit by the end of the year (according to some) if that's what you were referring to. Maybe so, especially if MS really pushes for it. But given AM2's track record, I'd be surprised if the game does support online play. They probably feel as though it would be impossible to implement given the fighting system (any latency would kill the gameplay). I'm guessing they'll add acheivements, maybe add some visual enhancements, and add some sort of online aspect (maybe the VFTV or whatever it is called). I kind of agree with that actually, but I almost feel as though that might be a little too optimistic. Given responses that I've seen online and in my personal life, it seems like there are a lot of people willing to buy a PS3 after a price cut and/or after a certain game is released (usually MGS4), but I'm not sure if maybe I'm overestimating how many people share those thoughts.
people play streetfighter on xboxlive, Hyperfighter and Anniversary Edition. Sure there's lag once in a while, just kick that dude out of the room on quarter match! no offense to the Virtua Fighter folk, but sf2 and sf3 require precision timing than any other game. if your dragon punch lags, then its over.
To follow up on VF5: http://www.gamesradar.com/us/xbox36...§ionId=1001&releaseId=2006122111543685040 I think that basically confirms no online play. Maybe if it was coming out later on, but I don't think there was enough time to add online play as well as all the other small tweaks they planned on adding to the 360 version (basing the 360 version on version C as opposed to version B for example).
who cares about the 1/16th. people know playing fighting on the web is not representative of playing an arcade fighter in the arcade. its just for fun, they should do it... not cause they care about the lag issue.. they should do to SELL THE GAME. xbox360 games want online games, especially fighting and sports and shooters. thats a must.
i know Strikers for the wii will finally have online play. im not too excited about the setup but its nice to finally see that online is coming out. im jones-ing for No More Heros to come out.
