This is ancient history now. With the way Morey flips assets, none of the guys you listed would still be with us now anyway. It's time to move on to why Morey didn't manage to get Rondo. :p

A big mistake was avoid by that vetoed trade. Then we will not have Harden, and Howard. Harden is only 24 years old. Gasol is 30 or 34 years old.

    20/20 hindsight.

Whoda thunk that Nene would be this bad after that payday?

The VETO that keeps on giving.

Saved us from Gasol, led to the Harden deal, and has now come full circle with Paul in Houston.

    Thanks David Stern. :D

Its tough to speculate if the Rox had been better or not, I mean look at what happened afterwards Harden trade, DHoward signing, WCF appearance etc.

Then again a lineup of Nene and Gasol is no joke, that would've shredded the league and knowing Morey he would flip all his other guys to sign a 3rd star in the deadline or offseason. Rox would have a starting lineup of Gasol/Nene/(good) Parsons/Courtney Lee/Lowry...that's a defensive masterpiece tbh.

I think the nixed trade set the Rockets back, Morey just seized another opportunity that came up. Stern gave him lemons, Morey made lemonade.

Is there any chance, however remote, Silver can veto this CP trade for Reasons?

Exactly, you have to just tweak a team just a little bit, if most of the players already have chemistry.

Bring in too many new players and you're talking about 4 plus years of adjustments.

We went from kmart/scola to harden/cp3. All hail Morey.

    Impact on the League
This is the season when the Pelicans (then the Hornets) first tried to trade Chris Paul to the Lakers, had it vetoed by league commissioner David Stern, and then rerouted him to the Clippers. As bossman Bill once explained on The Grantland Basketball Hour, the ripple effects to that one were massive. Alas, that deal went down in mid-December, which is too far from the 2012 deadline to reasonably include in our accounting.

Still, trading Ellis officially turned the keys to the Warriors’ offense over to Curry, which set in motion one of the great and still-developing dynasties in NBA history. Even though it wasn’t until the following season that Curry embraced his full Steph-ness—he played only 26 games in the 2011-12 season because of injury—that’s a big deal whether or not the Warriors fully realized it would be at the time.

The Rockets also landed another pick that they used in the Harden swap. After his sugar high wore off, Dwight became disgruntled yet again, leading to Stan Van Gundy’s infamous Diet Pepsi–fueled interview, Howard getting traded to the Lakers, and the Lakers falling into disarray after he walked in free agency a year later. This was a sneakily high-impact year. Score: 9/10

would have won the chip, too bad it got Veto'd

Nene Gasol twin tower, Lowry GOAT pg

That trade would have handicapped New Orleans for years with mediocrity. KMart, Scola and Dragic would have made that team 42 win 9th seed for a while

I don't even remember making this thread.

I still stand with my OP. We'd be a WCF contender with that team.

Also, our GM is Daryl freaking Morey. If he really wanted Harden, he'd find a way to get him regardless who's on the roster.
