Sorry, but as a Catholic myself, even I find it hard to listen to any commentary regarding political matters from the Vatican.

It's almost as if, according to the Catholic Church, the only good leader is one that is Pro-Life, never mind the hundreds of other issues facing our nation and the world. It's just not that simple.

And while I disagree with Obama's decision, at least I can recognize that he's made plenty of other ones that I have liked.

So where were they when the invasion and occupation of Iraq was beginning?

Oh yeah, I forgot....they were doing nothing.

If Obama were arrogant, none of his intellectual and well researched voters would have voted for him. Like these people, for instance.

Tell vatican city that until they appoint a pope whose doctrine is based on liberation theology, they have no right to speak. Those stubborn bastards in the vatican. grrr. They don't have the cojones to listen either.

Do away with ratzinger and let rivera carrera lead us to what catholicism should be, serving the poor. But no, instead everything is focused on abortion and "moral" issues.
here is hoping for change in the vatican, and it will happen!

With all that said, a tour by the pope and the pope mobile will always be welcomed. =)

How can Obama go off and lift this funding ban and justify that on Sunday mornings in Church (assuming he attends)? If memory serves he attended a service at the national cathedral this past week.

Exactly. If Obama was just as set in an ideology the vatican agreed with, they wouldn't have an issue with it.

    wait

...so you want a president that should rule based on how comfortable his decisions make him in church (which by the way, is not Catholic for him, as he is part of a Protestant denomination)?

    eh

All I can say is, "just war".

But why would Obama support an organization that wants children to be born for Catholic priest' sex needs, as they transport to the pedophiles to other churches to molest those children, also? Of course, they don't support abortion. Where would the priests go?

Thank you. They called a certain someone arrogant for saying the Earth moves through space, and it took them nearly 500 years to admit that error.

Haha, I was waiting for someone to say that. Didn't everyone know what Obama was going to do about abortion before he got to office? No big surprise here. Also, I am glad that the Vatican has become the foremost expert on whether or not a presidency is successful or not (they do know what arrogance is!).

    Brilliant!

So sick of people accusing others of "not being good/real Christians" for not supporting a ban on abortion.

YUP, cause abortion was the #1 thing Jesus preached on...oh wait...he never once mentioned it.

Forget serving the poor, helping the oppressed, economic justice, loving those who persecute you, or giving away all you own. Let's talk about sexual morality and abortion, and THOSE WILL BE THE ISSUES ON WHICH WE BASE ALL OUR POLITICAL ACTION!

The Vatican opposed the invasion of Iraq and criticized the GW Bush Admin for many of its policies of the War on Terror. If I recall correctly they also called GW Bush arrogant for those policies.
