I thought about this also. Without a true PG we are nothing...

This is exactly the reason why I dont believe that the Coach makes the best decisions on putting the right people on the floor to win.

I am looking for a counter argument..

    great analogy

    maybe this one works too

Corie Blount is a Center. He is very valuable to the Minnesota Twolves. He's a starter. Their bakcup is mark madson. that makes him even more valuable. W/o Corie Blount the Twolves suck......at the same time they're not that much better with him either (although he does kill the rockets). He is not untouchable when it comes to trading him

not a great analogy cuz corie blount has killed the rox in the past

I just watched the game again.....and Rafer does a good job of protecting the ball....but it wasnt' about that tonight.

The Rockets missed WIDE open shots all night long....and they kept chucking from the cheap seats instead of going to the hole.

This was a mental breakdown all over the team...

I think you're talking about Mark Blount. Corie Blount is a dinosaur that retired a while ago.

When looking at possessions, Rafer is valuable if he plays through McGrady and Yao. So far in his NBA career if he shoots off the dribble it hurts more than it pays. He needs a summer of purposeful practice to hone the scoring part of his game. I think he'll suffice. He tries. He listens to JVG. He plays D. He can penetrate and dish on offense. There is better out there, but the price to pay may be too much.

We win this game if stubborn jvg played vspan when rafer got ejected. Coaching lost us the game today.

    Another Raefer thread....

Watching him shoot is like watchg my drunk British bestfriend hit on American girls at bars. I put my hands over my eyes and listen for shwish or slap.

    ...or the occasional "f*ck off!!!"

"The value of Raefer Alston..?" ....Oh I figger, bout a buck fitty. Alston would be a good backup, he may even be a positive in a starting role on a low level team.... but he aint gonna win us no championship. Anyone who thinks we dont need to pull the trigger on a deal that gets us a bonafide PG, and that Raef can 'carry the load', can reference the Matt Maloney playoff run. Dont wanna bash, love my Rox, but let's be real, Raefer aint gonna take us to the promised land, and we need to make the deal that will!

Maloney ran the point for a Rox team that was a Karl Malone bearhug away from the NBA finals. Now, I don't know that Yao, TMac, and Battier equal Dream, Barkley, and Drex, but when your PG is your #5/6 option, a Maloney may be all you need, heck a low turnover guy that shoots 40% from downtown like the '97 Maloney sounds pretty good when we see JLIII and V-SPAN out there.
