I saw the Utah game on league pass last night and you can thank Brandon Roy for the Jazz defeat, he dumped 29 or 30 pts on them. Roy is going to be an allstar one of these days, the kid has a complete game.
You can also thank JVG for Rockets not being able to get Roy. Had JVG kept his ego in check last year and actually gave a $hit about lottery, we would have had a higher pick and quiet possibly Brandon Roy playing alongside Yao and Tmac.
actually, the rockets wanted roy and tried to get him but portland made the trade...i dont remember the details but you cant blam a coach b/c a team didnt accept a trade. stop blaming everything on jvg for christ sakes.
I believe Zboy is referring to JVG's refusal to tank games last season and dropping a few spots down the draft. If we didn't win a few meaningless games at the end, it would have landed us Roy.
Yeah, when I found this out I cheered then 2 seconds later I was extremely pissed because we lost too, so it didnt make any difference.
What good did winning those meaningless games do? Name me some benefits please. Atleast I can tell you what it did not get us. What would you rather have? Couple of extra wins when you know you are not making the playoffs or Brandon Roy for next 10 years playing along Tmac and Yao? As Hakeem used to say...."the big picture"
Is that even a serious question? Battier is a role player who has had a history of dissapearing in big games. Roy has done great his rookie year and is a potential future star who plays both ends of the court.
Sloan has almost been coaching the Jazz for twenty years. That's pretty incredible, considering he's never won a championship in his nearly two decades.
It's a totally serious question. 9/10 of fans on other teams would rather have Battier. Similar to Luke Walton, he understands the game better than almost anyone on the team. He is exactly the type of SF that you'd want on a championship team. His bball IQ is sky high, and can knock the J when wide-open, not to mentioned in the same breath as Bowen, Artest, etc. as premier defenders in the NBA. Roy just doesn't fit the role of a scoring SG on a championship team.
Umm, he has the highest career ppg average in the playoffs of any player not named Jordan. I think we can count on him in the playoffs.
Its a no brainer for me, I would take Roy hands down over three Shane Battiers especially after watching Roy play this season. Roy is a very special player.
They are scoreboard watching.....if the Rockets would have won, I am sure Utah would have played the games differently. DD
