Hey, another post where you didn't even read the context and just regurgitated talking points. Congrats! There's no doubt both parties got us into this mess - I never said otherwise. The GOP controlled all branches for 6 years of the 2000s and didn't make any attempts to address health care, financial regulation, nor did they make any real attempts to address the fact that GDP growth was occurring with no job growth. Those are the three biggest problems we face right now. The Dems controlled Congress for 2 years with a GOP President, and we had twice the filibusters of any previous Senate in history. And you now have all branches controlled by Dems and even more filibusters than the last record-setting Senate. You can argue about whether the Dems ideas are good or not, but the idea that they are not trying to fix problems is laughable. The GOP didn't even try to address these problems. They certainly weren't filibustered in any attempts by Democrats.
I am afraid he is missing the big picture still. We should abolish the Senate altogether. If there is a more counterproductive body in government, let me know.
You do realize that if the Dems control Congress, it's the GOP that's filibustering, right? If you haven't figured that out, you just need to walk away and start over.
Are you freaking kidding me? Bush did everything he wanted to for eight years, can you point to anything that the Dems obstructed?
It doesn't take balls to stand as one when the partyleadership threatens you. That's pretty much the definition of cowardice. Sure, some Dems are cowardly looking after their own reelection viability rather than the greater good of the country and others just disagree and still others want to play the game to acquire as much ephemeral personal power as possible. That's all politics and has a healthy history in the US. Blind party discipline as recently exhibited by Repubs... not so much.
I know this has been covered but, man, you made yourself look dumb. I physically cringed when I read your post.
I agree with you, but still with the Dems had posessed the intestinal fortitude to filibuster the authorization to use force against Iraq.
And for the record, here were the bills passed under Repubs using reconciliation... All told, those four bills added about $1 trillion to the deficit.
The AUMF against Iraq passed the senate 77-23. There was never a question of a filibuster because it would have been shut down immediately.
Do you have the other 12,000 pics in this set: y'know, for every single Congressman or Senator that ever lived?
And being one of those self proclaimed moderates let me ask you back when Republicans controlled all three portions of elected Federal government what did you think of those ridiculous Senate rules?
