Agreed. However, if this is an experimental here, why not let C-Bud start and let him develop his game. C-Bud's defense can only improve with more playing time.
Not necessarily, giving the rookie wall. Having C-Bud getting destroyed by Jackson or Wade while playing defense could cause him to lose confidence or something. The Rockets do have an interest in winning and making the playoffs to get experience, and I would argue Battier is still superior to Budinger for now. Starting Budinger from my perspective is not a good move.
Isn't this what I said long ago during the tracy saga? Don't tell me we're building to the future and player development when shane is playing over 30 mins. They need to trade shane and tracy and get what they can and let Chase start and develop to see what he can do full time.
trading Shane would be like trading Otis Thorpe, a fan favorite and a consistent player for the Rockets. What this team painfully lacks is bigs.
Just a friendly reminder... Shane and Chuck are Co-Captains for the Rockets. I agree with taking Ariza out from the starting line-up. But not with taking out Shane and/or Chuck.
DD, I am definietely agreeing with you on this one.To me this is so clear as to an option that we should look into. Also,I dont know why some of you keep talking about how this a development year. Not sure if you realize this but last season we were one game shy of going to the western conf finals. You dont return the next season and say this is a development year, regardless of injuries. I think becasue everyone knows that we are not a championship team, some of us are relating that to being a development year. Listen, Daryl stated at the beginning of the season that they feel as though this team could still make the playoffs. And if you go check out his Twitter page, on this morning Daryl has stated that we need "change". Just because Yao is down, this team still has expectations and some of us are saying that we should change nothing as though loosing is acceptable and that shouldnt be the case. And FYI, when you are starting a guy(Ariza) at shooting guard and he CANT shoot the ball, IT's A PROBLEM, regardless as to whether or not its a development year. Yes, Yao is coming back next year and he is a big missing piece, however, we still need to do everything that needs to be done to make this team better before he returns. So lets not just sit back and say loosing is acceptable because it isnt. Rick Adelman has said time and time again that he was concerned about the chemistry of this team as it related to bringing Tracy back. Well I feel as though the same should apply when referring to any player, and right now I think even Steve Wonder can see that starting Ariza at shooting guard is not helping this team, he is a SF, not an SG......
Rockets need a legit center like you wouldn't believe, I think Les is gonna wait until Yao announces his retirement in the next year or two before he signs a legit big. I wish he would hurry up and the need for a ball-handling go-to scorer is a very big issue. We had such with T-Mac. <object style="height: 344px; width: 425px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UPEjF3LSM64"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UPEjF3LSM64" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></object>
I don't think it's wise to change the starting lineup right now, just to change it again when a trade or two goes through. If hypothetically we put CBud in and Ariza out, then traded Battier for a star wing and decided it's best to move CBud back and Ariza forward for defense....transition would be smoother not to make a move right now. Yes, I think you want to win, but changing the lineup doesn't always solve problems and sometimes creates new ones. I'd like to see more of CBud just like many others, but I don't think that means he needs to start. I've missed the last couple games, but I noticed Landry was subbing in for Chuck alot sooner, and that looks like the right move to me. I'd like to see the same for CBud.
