So...the Wizards are bad. Really bad. And expensive. Really expensive. WAS ranks 6th in the league in payroll @130 million. They're 1-7 and giving up a league worst 124ppg. It's still early (obviously), but it'll be an interesting situation to watch from afar. Wall is locked in for 5 more seasons (19m, 38m, 41m, 44m, and 47m, respectively). Beal and Porter are each locked in for 3 more seasons (25m, 27m, and 28m, respectively). Outside of them, there really are no commitments moving forward. So maybe they ride out the funky start, but they've been atrocious. If if they continue to really struggle, you have to wonder if they make a move, and if so, what. I don't see any takers on Wall. And I could see Beal being difficult to pry for most teams. But Porter may be a perfect fit for HOU. His recent payday is a deterrent, but this looks like the type of move a new, outspoken, hungry owner like Fertitta is willing to do. Unlike Butler, Porter is under contract moving forward and may be a better fit, even if less glamorous, than Butler?
Unlike Butler Porter is not a star and doesnt make much of a difference in winning a championship imo. As you said the Wizards are awful. Their owner even started to make some moves to encourage them which is very uncharacteristic for him. He usually does nothing but waits. I believe first they will trade away Porter and possibly fire the coach but I don't believe the GM will ever get fired.
Otto is exactly what we need ... 3 and d. A good glue. Beal is valuable, but is probably too expensive. Wall and his superstar contract =
Been an advocate for Porter for quite some time now, though I took the Otto Porter Movement out of my signature because I figured hope had gone dim.
Gee, who would of guessed adding career cancers like Dwight Howard and Austin Rivers to an already dysfunctional team would fail miserably? Never saw that coming!
