I'm in Fort Worth and there is light snow falling. There are several overpasses icing up again and several accidents. Work has been delayed till 10 am but I know how this is going to pan out. A lot of people are not going to show up today. So, while I could probably get out there and make it in with little problem on these slick roads, why should I bother if alot of other people don't show up? They didn't show up on Monday when I did. It's not like this is going to be a productive work day today. I'm not going in to do nothing because other people needed to get work done aren't there. Most people are "working from home". However, I didn't bring my work laptop home so I'm not working (unless you count remote e-mail checking working). In fact, I think most people are just blowing the work day off and have to stay home with their kids because they cancelled the school day.
Just got the word...working from home today. Raining hard in Westbury and stuff is halfway freezing on the ground.
Man I love this weather...It's snowing in Dallas this morning...I need a snow day...The problem is, more than half the people here don't know how to drive, let alone when the weather is bad... The temp won't get above freezing today and will be highs in the 30's and lows in the 20's all week...
I'm an idiot for coming into work. None of my group is here. Dammit...I'm stupid. Now, I get to sit here all day and get zero done.
essentially, you show up....you're screwed. there's a long list of reasons why one cannot do that: 1.) badge scans 2.) other people showed up and have seen me 3.) boss showed up the best i can hope for is to leave early. some people are clearly not making an effort to get here as the roads aren't that bad. they are slushy at worst and road crews are all over sanding so it's not even bad. anyone watching the news would know that there are only a few problem areas. that's what kind of irks me. i guess i'm a good employee for showing up.

Yeah, I tried that 'good employee' nonsense last time it flooded. I went to work when over 3/4ths of the people didn't. The people who didn't go to work got a free day off and the people did go to work didnt' even get an extra day. Since then, they've also laid off several departments. Now I don't give a crap about being the 'good employee' anymore. I'm only as loyal to them as they are to me. That's why I didn't go to work today.
One of my live oak's limbs is touching the ground. I have no idea why it hasn't broken. Got my fingers crossed!
