I guess I forgot this part... [SARCASM] Geeze. You guys seriously think this is bad? There's some ice pellets on my deck and that's about it. If someone died somewhere as a result of the ice, I sure am sorry for that. That doesn't bely the fact that it really isn't that bad out there. I said nothing about what tomorrow is going to be like. I'm sure it's going to be worse than today. However, you should have seen the news here in Austin this morning. "Well, Bob, it's a dangerous situation out here. There are people driving on MOPAC at normal speeds. Now there isn't actually any ice anywhere, but there could be...sometime...but not now."
i agree but its all about what people are used to. people in other places can't handle 3-4 inches of rain within a few hours which in houston frankly is a pretty regular occurance. similarly when it gets to upper 90s up in the north east similarly there are often very unfortunate deaths. so down here when theres a lil bit of snow/sleet/ice bad things happen because people aren't used to it. of course its sissy. a bunch of my florida friends were laughing at us during rita. but given the fact that we aren't used to certain weather phenomena that dont occur and hence aren't prepared...we're bound to over-react. and i'd much rather over-react than get screwed.
Oh...I get it now. You're calling the "good part of the state" Austin. Figures. The rest of us "bad part of the state" people have more to worry about when it comes to ice...not just what you're seeing on your porch.
WTF are you talking about? "Good part of the state" = majority of the state...unless you're talking about Dallas...then, yes, Austin is the good part of the state compared to that. OR, are you just being a d*** for the sake of being a d***?
UT has just closed the university tommorrow for any fellow Longhorns out there http://www.utexas.edu/emergency/index.php
man, i'm bundling up tommorow. i want work to be canceled, but for some reason, it won't. Reverse pyschology.
It hasn't rained here for a while now. Is this supposed to be headed our way still? (South Houston) Cold as balls, but still no rain.

i can hear the wind outside my windows. id look outside, but my vision sucks, and theres a damn bush in the way.
According to weather.com, ice and sleet have nailed San Antonio and Austin, but totally bypassed Houston, coming as far south as Brenham. Cold as hell, but no moisture. My work is open today. I was hoping for an extended MLK day holiday. Oh well...time to shave...
well i just got to work. it took me about 45 minutes to go about 15+ miles with no traffic. it was kind of funny when i pulled into my parking lot at work. i saw the ground was all rough and i thought "oh nice they sanded our parking lot". then i started to think again and i opened my door as i was driving about 5 mph and i put my foot on the road and i felt all ice as my foot slid along lol. oh well i got here safely but be really careful anyone in austin.
This sucks. I wake up expecting the conditions to be too bad to drive to work, and there is absolutely no ice anywhere to be seen. Screw you mother nature for making me go to work. Blah.
