Anybody actually go to their classes today? If so, were there a lot of students in class? I don't even go to UH and it pisses me off so much that they could expect students to go to classes when the city is still feeling the aftermath of Ike.
yeah im just really really upset. I came to school and skipped classes to go to the TSU FEMA POD Center to help out. That place was just, it was something else. There were THOUSANDS of people there, and we were working like crazy. I came back to my room to take a break. Im just not gonna go to class today. I might tomorrow. The trees are still snapped and there are still fallen power lines. I guess if the investiture is postponed then who knows what her reasons are. Dr. Khator has really dissapointed me. I thought she was gonna be different, but she, as the administration usually does, took a massive dump on the students at the University of Houston. (not just undergrad, i met a few grad students who are screwed too)
What dept. does she work in? Just asking because i'm in the call center for enrollment services and I'm working later than usual today. Not getting a lot of calls but I'm sure its becasue people are trying to survive right now and are not able to be concerned with school. I came to work no badge, haven't shaved and not dressed very professional. But hey I frekin made it and I used up gas in my vehicle and If I don't get more I'm not sure I can come tomorrow. I'm still a temp here so if I don't work I don't get paid. But I know for sure that others are worse off than i am right now. God bless all the folks strugling for food and water.
I'm a student at UH Law, and although classes are supposedly on today, it looks like half of the classes have been canceled. I probably won't make it in the rest of the week. Gas is too precious to come by only to go to class.
I just finished up a class. about 40% were in attendance and the class was only 30 minutes long. My instructor said they were told to keep classes short because we have other needs to tend to. Don't waste your gas today. stay home.
Holy crap, I'd be so pissed off if I drove any considerable distance for a 30 minute class. What the hell were they thinking?
This is what I was thinking.....so they want us to drive out with limited resources, only to attend shortened classes? It just makes no sense to "limit" class when you have people driving in using limited resources. Either cancel the classes all together or have a normal class. To me, it's obvious what should be (or should have been) done, and that is cancel the classes all together. I have a class on Wednesday, and I do not plan on attending. Gas is just too hard to come by right now. My teach said watch Vista for updates and nothing has been posted yet, hopefully something will come up soon. Be sure to check there before you go in. Pugs
DONE. UHD is closed until Sunday. I get IT updates ahead of student through our Assistant Vice-President. Check the website. And STOP driving to where you don't need to go. Stop wasting your gas.

Bunch of slackers. Back when I was in school, I had to walk 3 miles uphill both to school and back. Now a little drizzle is holding you poor little students from going to school. Waa-waa-waa!
In the future, they will simulcast lectures in real time on the internet. Then no one has to attend class. Maybe it has already happened, I don't know.
Who is making these decisions at UH? While everyone was waking up to the devastation of Ike, UH was cooging it against Air Force in Dallas.
