I'm a Lin fan who's following the Rockets largely because of his presence on the team. That being said, I admit with some disappointment that...

Patrick Beverley is by far the more impactful player.

While I believe Lin has unique physical attributes (his league-leading acceleration and his 6'4 height) that could lead to him becoming a star, at the moment his flaws are too great and his current skillset too easily replicated for him to be considered significantly more than an average-impact player.

Beverley on the other hand has a defensive presence that even good defensive bigmen have a hard time replicating. This is because:

1. His suffocating defense often forces the opposing PG to pass off the rock and have someone else make the initial play. This puts the opponent's offense out of the sync.

2. His steals, blocks, and offensive rebounding (he blocks and rebounds like a bigman) create extra possessions for the team. More possessions mean more points.

I love Lin and I want him to succeed, but at the moment there are very few PG's in the league that can affect the game like Beverley can. If Lin doesn't significantly improve next season I fear he'll either be traded or relegated to the bench.

I never watched bball before Lin, so if I sound dumb, I have valid excuse.

To me Bev is like a human spring, bouncing all the way and everywhere. But if he jumps and bounces for starter minutes, I guess the spring's legs will turn into stones.

i'm a beverely fan who just started watching basketball today. I can tell you he can play like that for 50 minutes straight without a rest. plus, how hard is it to bring the ball and get out of harden's way?

gotta love 'coach' bad best sofa chair gm and scout on the interwebs. no doubt about it.

I think he is in pretty good basketball shape. He has been playing a decent role in Europe.

Was fine with him until those back to to back killer turnovers to end the half. Great players don't make those simple mistakes.

Although I don't agree with a new thread every day about this topic.

I do agree with your point.

I hope Lin is not here for the remainder of his contract as the starting PG.

I've never been more frustrated with a player then when I watch Lin.

That baseline pass right to KD was by far one of the most idiotic plays I've seen in recent memory.

I've tried to support him these past few months but I'm finally fed up.

A player who shrinks in the biggest games can't be a starter on a playoff team.

Would be a very good bench player though.
