    For exactly the reason you quoted, Violence is heightened by desperation, desperation comes from poverty, marginalization and lack of representation. And those things are the inevitable product of 400 years of discrimination.

    We could have probably avoid this is Andrew Johnson hadn't bailed on reconstruction. Imagine a 2020 society where blacks are fully integrated into every socio-economic level of American society, seamless into white culture..... It'd be **** because we wouldn't have great music or comedy, Tupac singing Moon River, Richard Pryor making airline food jokes. ha! worth the trade off?
