Rotated between briefs and boxers in 1992, then switched to boxers exclusively in 1994. Just recently I have discovered the best of both worlds with boxer briefs. Boxers just werent as comfortable and started getting irritating with the waistbands - perhaps that had something to do with my expanding waistline. Im almost exclusively boxer briefs now - lovely.
I hate boxers. I never wear slacks or Dockers or anything like that. It's jeans 90 percent of the time. Boxers and jeans are pure evil in concert. I wore briefs until a few years ago when I switched to boxer briefs at the request of ex girlfriend. I actually prefer them now.
DO NOT LIKE the boxer feeling at all. I want my little ones to have that cohesion... that... camraderie... I couldn't stand to sit on one of them and cry for 15 minutes... when I could have prevented it... ... my wife enjoys seeing me in boxer briefs, though... they tighten up my buttocks... (sorry if TMI)...
Add me to the list of guys who used to wear briefs but switched to boxer-briefs at the request of the girlfriend. Call me crazy, but I don't think chicks dig tighty-whities...

I have no problem with jeans and boxers... just takes a slight adjustment to start the day. Still, since you're a musician, I guess you might prefer your jeans Spinal Tap tight, in which case I can see your point (and probably other things as well).
I wore boxers for most of my life until last July, due to an injury to the nether regions, I was forced to wear briefs for a while. I actually liked them. Nowadays, boxers have gone the way of the dodo for me, and I'm mostly split between Boxer-briefs and briefs. Moreso boxer-briefs though.
I still have some boxers, but use them to sleep in...I now use boxer briefs...contains my package... I still use tighty whities to work out in...
I don't wear them THAT tight, but I don't wear loose fit either. I just wear normal boot cut jeans that fit without having to shoehorn into them. But, even those don't accommodate boxers well.
