A minute? I figure you meant a few seconds before it was. I gotta believe the ref let it go longer to give Gus a chance in front of the home crowd, especially after the Hendo stoppage. Yeah I can def see why the ref stopped it initially cos it looked like Hendo was out but in replays you can for sure see Hendo was still trying to get at Mousasi even while down....but yeah Hendo was going to lose that fight anyway. I don't even think he would've gone past the 1st. Going in charging with the right while dropping his head too low. No attempts at a takedown against an excellent stand up fighter. I hope Hendo retires though. Same way I feel about Anderson. Don't want to see either keep fighting and losing. It's like watching Olajuwon, Ewing, etc keep playing when you can see they can't play like the Hall of Famers they are. They can play like the other players but you want to see those guys play like the HOFers they are. Anyway, hopefully Hendo steps away.
Oh yeah, Rumble vs Gus. Couldn't decide all week who I thought would win but I hoped Gus would so we could get a Bones vs Gus rematch. Rumble vs Bones should be interesting because of how Jones manages to keep opponents at bay and mix his strike arsenal. Gus didn't(couldnt?) do any of that as Rumble kept coming at him like a bull. Sucks for the Swedes tonight. Both their fighters lost. One knocked out and the other almost knocked out and basically out by strikes. Plus they stayed there till almost 4 am. I figure it's better to have been in Rumble's position in that fight. Zero pressure. Zero pressure for him to win and get the rematch with Bones. Zero pressure for him to win for the people of that nation that came to watch the fight. Also, maybe next time Gus will train with someone Rumble didn't just beat and choose someone similar in fighting style to train with as opposed to Phil Davis. (Although I'm sure it was good for him to hear Davis' thoughts on what went wrong in Davis' fight vs Rumble). Now onto Silva vs Diaz.
