Wow, I thought Hendrix was going to eek out a win, but that 20 pound beer gut he put on after weigh-ins caught up with him big-time.
I don't know why Hendricks didn't stick to his game plan of setting up leg kicks. He was destroying Lawler so bad in the 2nd and 3rd round, I was almost considering walking out of bdubs. Instead he went for weak takedowns and was happy to get elbowed and punched in the side of his face while he turtled up. That fight was his and he threw it away. Pettis was absolutely amazing. Seized a split second opening after rocking Melendez and choked him out.
too many hamburgers seriously, as a pro athlete at the top level, there's no excuse for that kind of behvaiour in between fights. He gasses in every single championship fights it's ridiculous. maybe he should consider not gaining 20 pounds of fat and staying in shape instead of killing himself every single time cutting all that weight.
I hear you, although he didn't gas vs GSP surprisingly. He just coasted in the 5th round of that fight. I think tonight was a combination of gassing and coasting. Terrible game planning too. If he just kept it standing and didn't go for all those failed takedown attempts, Lawler wouldn't have been able to tee off on him and Hendricks would have won. He was winning the standup by a landslide.
I don't know for sure, but by looking at that gut he rehydrated around 20 pounds -- inexcusable for a pro athlete much less a major fighting world champion. He was gassed by the end of the fourth.
Anthony P i thought was overrated before, I was so wrong.. he was amazing! I can see him beating down Jose Aldo with that kind of stand-up game.
