Both teams would gain, and both teams would lose. The rox and magic should look to address their needs through other means.

Yao is way better team defender than DH even though DH is much quicker (means more rebounds). No way Rockets will do the trade. I always like Turk's game. But he had one great year. He is the third-scorer-type guy for rockets. He is not worth batman/Landry/Scola because these kind of trade is a "fair" trade. It won't make rockets over the hump. I will only trade batman for a true all-star such as Redd/Roy/Matrix/prince. Not even Ron artest because of his unreliability.

There's no way in hell they would trade Turkoglu for Battier after the season he had. If they will, you do it, no questions asked.

A possible target on the Magic could be Tony Battie. His contract ends in 2 years and they may be interested in dumping his salary. I think he would be a great compliment to Yao with his rebounding, shot-blocking and mid-range j. He could also fill in at C with Yao out of the game. A straight up trade of Bobby's expiring for him and maybe Redick would be interesting. You could throw Head in there as well. This of course hinges on him being recovered from his shoulder surgery.

In recent 20-30 years, Most of NBA Champion team need a first-team defensive plyer. Batman played the role now.

Jonathan Feigen's thoughts on such a trade:

    [rquoter]
(I don't think either team would do it. It would be very tempting for the Rockets, though I might think more of Turkoglu more than a lot of people. The problem for the Rockets is that if they are continuing to build around McGrady and Yao, having Battier to play big minutes of strong defense against the best scorers at either wing position is closer to a necessity than a luxury. It doesn't seem to help the Magic, either. If they are giving up the Most Improved player it would seem to have to be for a true power forward. -- Jonathan)[/rquoter]

I agree. I don't understand why Battier's name keeps being mentioned so much as trade bait. We only see what goes on on the court. But we're clueless on what goes in the locker room/practice. From the articles I've read, Battier is clearly a behind the scenes leader. IMO he goes nowhere. Besides, trading him automatically puts a HUGE dent in the defense . Plus I believe this was our year with the roster we have now. Hard to win when the best center in the league goes down.

b/c he would garner the most interest and the most return in a trade of the players the organization would be willing to trade.

Hellz yeah, I would take that trade. Hedo can handle the ball, shoot, drive. He would take lots of pressure off of Tracy.

Why not? The Rockets gave up a stong ROY candidate who turned into a athletic 20 ppg scorer for just a Pot of Glue. :p

    EDIT: Garnett was the DPoY.

    No, sir.

    It's an equal trade.

You're trading oranges for oranges, however, in this case, our oranges play great defense.

I think we should trade Battier for Rudy Gay.

    I agree with Feigen.

A few people are using numbers to justify the trade, but how can you put a number on defense? Shane isn't the problem. He shot 44 percent in the playoffs and people still say he's a weakness on offense. 44 percent is higher than all our perimeter players.

Fact of the matter is, Tmac can't be our main defensive stopper. You think he gets tired easily now, how is he going to defend and score at the same time?

That 44% translated to how many points again?
