Trade Battier Oh yeah The new rotation should be Yao Scola Tmac Bonzi Franchise James Battier Landry Head Brooks Leaving the following players out of the rotation Deke Rafer Hayes Rafer and head are also interchangable in the rotation as I see it
Just say no to Brick-zi.....the guy can't shoot, can't finish and plays the laziest defense I may have ever seen, he just basket hangs and goes for rebounds.....as his man shoots wide open shots. Bonzi is part of the problem, not the solution. DD
Good point ! But, it does sort of take away the humor of calling it "The Truthier truth" I guess people can just say it is typical "insane" DaDakota.....LOL Early adapters are always called nutty, crazy, loony, then....simply, right. By the way, when the Rockets had Sura and Wesley ( two players capable of shooting and driving) they were more of a force than they are now..... DD
I would still want wells starting instead of the human paperweight known as shane battier. HE DOESNT DO ANYTHING!!!!!!
francis and MJ, those are 2 penetrators. However, i think its about more than just having more penetrating players. signed, JVG
If by Anything you mean: Play great D, Shoot the 3 ball well Spread the floor Make good passes Play within himself Then yeah, I guess I see your point. Battier is better than Bonzi every day of the week. He is right about some things..... DD
I missed that game, dang it, but.... I have been watching this problem for the last few years........even Morey hinted about it when signing Francis etc. It is simply the "Truthiest truth" But apparently it takes a while for some people (even coaches) to get it. DD
sry if it looks like i took a personal swipe on the other thread at you. i've been reading ur posts for a long time and i like how opinionated u r, but u do come across as a little too harsh at times. nice sig btw
I don't take much personal, if you have an opinion, say it, usually people come around to my way of thinking, but not always (Dan Langhi-cough, cough). DD
1. Battiers defensive capabillities are highly suspect. He has been overrated on the defensive end of the court his whole career and as a one dimensional player he cant even excel at his only function. 2. Last year he shot the 3 decently but this year????? Under Gundy he stood in one spot and waited (like bruce bowen does) this year he cant do that because of the new offense so once again he has no use. 3. He misses wide open 3's the defenses dont respect him therefore his ability to spread the floor is non existant. 4. Makes good passes. You can have that one 5. Plays within himself......... Well he knows he can do nothing so he does nothing so I guess your right there too. lol
Our problem is not just any one player. We have many players who are reasonably good at certain things. The problem is that each player has his deficiency. If the guy can play defense, reliable, stable, low turnover, he is not a big threat on the offensive end : Alston, Battier, Hayes, Mutumbo. If the guy can shoot, he is likely to jack up too many shots on nights when they are off too. They are also deficient at the defensive end: James, Wells, Head. One worse than the other. At the end of the bench, Brooks, Snyder, Landry can hardly be expected to contribute much. Besides TMac and Yao, the only player who can do both is Scola. I predict he will become the 3rd most important player on the team. Our last hope is Francis, he is not terrible at defense (like Head) and he can be a threat on offense. During his brief time on the court, Steve seems to have learned to control his weaknesses and play within the team's system. I was never much a fan of Steve's bouncing the ball for 20 seconds but I think if Steve can play like he has this year, he can be a positive factor for the Rockets.
I somewhat agree... except with the implication that college ball is about cutting and "slashing". Laff. College basketball is about ignoring your big men and jacking up 3-pointers at the end of a shot clock that is way too long.
