hehe believe or not if yao is an American without so many nation responsibilities he will be a better player and have a more successful career
If Yao were not a an American he would not be starting? How do you make this comment and then follow it up with please only respond with intelligent responses when in fact you are the one speaking like an idiot. The only thing that Yao lacks is dominance, he just needs to get tuffer. There is NOT one other Center in the league that has his level of skill, not even Shaq did is his prime. Shaq was a force because of his size and he knew how to use it, but even to this day he does not have the skills that Yao has. Once he learns how to get tougher down low and command his space, he will be one of the greatest to play the game. The offense runs through Yao because he demands the double team, dont ever forget that. As far as the team being successful, this is a better team without Tracy, just look at the statistics. Basically Ron is going to step up and be what Tracy was unable to be for us due to injuries on the offensive end and he has already proven that he is capable of that. As far as Rafer is concerned, Im not sure that I would have traded him in the middle of the season, however, mark my words that Aaron Brooks will be better than Rafer ever was in the future. AB has all the tools, he just needs that insight and knowledge to learn more about the game. Once he learns the difference between handling the ball and dribbling the ball he has the potential to be one of the big names in the NBA. Also please keep in mind that your dealing with a guy that grew up playing ball in China and still to this day has played basketball year around, something that nobody in the league has to do. Once that stops and he starts working out here more in the off season he will develop in those negative areas. The only thing I feel as though we lack right now is that defense that we had when we were under Van Gundy. If we can get that defensive intensity back and our shooters remain consistent then we have great chances of advancing in the playoffs. And to address your comment about who is going to hit a winning shot, I dont know what team you have been watching but we have more than one person thats capable of this and to me that makes us more dangerous. I have watched Ron, Yao, Von Wafer and AB all put the teams on their backs and hit big shots for us. So for the opposite team thats wondering who we defend, u never know with us. With a team like the Lakers you know where the ball is going so just double team him and make someone prove they can beat you. Im sorry but the majority of your comments I have to disagree with especially about Yao. there has not been a team in the past 10 years thats won a championship without a talented big man down low. So if we get rid of Yao then what do we do because there is definitely nobody out there better to replace him with that we could get.Would you suggest we follow the Don Nelson/Dantoni method which is running up and down the court to see how many points we can score without a big man. Sorry but the last time I checked that has not worked for anyone in the league.[/QUOTE]
1. Fail, I am so happy to see Orlando in the same predicament we have been in with Rafer all these years, Live and die by Rafer's shooting. 2.HUGE FAIL 3.Again, COLOSSAL FAIL 4.Remains to be seen, Our defense/attitude/toughness is much better without Tracy, regardless of his health. 5.Ron Artest is a top 20 player both ways. Ron and Shane are world class defenders, and certainly the best perimeter defenders in the NBA. 6.Nothing I can say but, WOW. You are absolutely wrong man! 7.With our current squad, and 20 Million for Morey to play with, I beg the differ...
This topic needs to go away. Lets start a new one about how far the rockets are going to go in the playoffs, since obviously all 7 of this dudes points were wrong, or were proven wrong in the past week. Always remember rockets fans, being a true fan is having patience, and its starting to come together nicely! 6 down, 16 to go!!!!
just thought itd be funny to bring this back... they might have seemed wrong then...but looking back, makes a little more sense huh?
Above average on offense huh?? Then why the **** he get double and triple team every night...explain that dumb ass!! He's the best offensive player right along with Kobe and Lebron imo. The only difference is that those 2 are playing at a position where it's hard to guard them. I stopped reading after this. This show you don't know shyt about talents. So because he's Asian, therefore he's automatically label as BETTER than American?? What kind of dumb analogy is this?? Yao is a force offensively and defensively. Offensively, he's unstoppable, that's why they front him and double him. Defensively, he altered shots..that's why hardly anybody can penetrate and do layup without fear of getting blocked. So your reasoning is just plain dumb!! Use your ****ing brain before posting anything like this. Oh, wait...i think you don't have one...at least not yet.
1. You WILL be kicking yourselves by watching how much success Rafer will have in orlando. 2. We might not make the playoffs. 3. Rick Adelman is not the best choice for OUR team 4. Love him or hate him- We needed a healthy McGrady 5. Ron Artest was/is overrated. 6. The biggest reason, which isn't apparent to a lot of you, that we have not had success the past 5 years or so, and won't have success, is staring right at you- It is 7'6- and his name is Yao Ming 7. We are approaching a rebuilding period. A long one. just to revisit...: 1. Rafer is doing well in orlando's system, and he isn't turning the ball over. What has killed us this series? TURNOVERS. Inexperienced pointguards turning the ball over and not being able to run our offense. Rafer would have helped this series (although for the long run I do like Lowry over Rafer and still agree with the trade, but it was kind of throwing away the season) 2. obviously I was proven wrong on this, i overestimated the jazz and more importantly the suns. 3. Adelman is a great coach, and I do like him. I still agree that he is not the best coach for Yao and a system that fits yao in. Our offense is based purely on talent, not much x's and o's. Ron artest does crazy stuff, when it works we score. Yao Ming just overpowers people, when it works we score. When that stuff doesn't, their goes our offense (unless you consider ab or wafer going on a crazy streak). Not very often am I like wow solid ball movement and possesion by the rockets offense. (it happens, just not that often as other teams) 4. I don't even think I need to touch on this subject. 5. He is very inconsistent, and his dumb decisions on offense kill us. Yes when he is on its great, but man he really isn't a team player. He is an good player in this league, he is not deserving of a huge contract though. Right price? keep him, if he wants too much, let him go. He hurts the team just as much as he helps us. 6. His health kills us, and how much everyone has to fluctuate there game when he is or isn't on the court. Our offense is stagnant when he is out because we don't really know how to do much more than throw it down to yao, so we substitute scola in his role at times, but even that isnt that great. 7. We are approaching a rebuilding period, but not quite yet. We have the best role players in the league. All in all I do not think this series is over. If these players can learn on the fly to play has a team, we have enough talent to beat this team. The difference with out talent versus the rest of the league is ours has been hidden behind Yao Ming for a long time. As far as the future, we have a big 3. Tmac, Yao, and scola. Scola is very underrated and can definately be counted on night in and night out. Aaron Brooks will improve even more over the offseason. Getting rid of tmac doens't solve that many problems, his salary off the books isn't 20 million, its much different if you know the nba financial structure. I think keeping him next year is the best option, and let him prove us wrong. All I can say now is beat the hell outta the lakers, and if we don't win, at least let them remember when they played the rockets.
ok buddy... no need to call me a dumbass. I said above average on offense, look at his scoring averages compared to the rest of hte league. Then you say "well he is a center, and he doenst have to shoot as much" look at it compared to other great centers in teh past (in their prime). Now to agree with you, at the time I said this, I underestimated his ability. After tmac going down, he has really carried our offense and done a great job. The last time I saw him be this effective was the 2005 2006 pre injury. To back my argument, to be a great scorer, you have to be a consistent scorer, Yao isnt a consistent scorer. He isn't even a consistent player, he is always hurt. The chinese comment was everything to do with his marketing value for the rockets and how we are commited to that value. Why would you get rid of the only player in the league that has the biggest economy in the world following him? Sometimes you gotta look at the business aspect of basketball to understand the whole game.... and thats very unfortunate. open your eyes a bit and think before you label me as a dumbass
You ARE A DUMBASS!! Yao IS a consistent scorer!! How the **** you explain his high percentage shots?? Every time he shoots, it's almost automatic...that's why opponents are forced to double triple and denied him the ball. The problem is the damm Rockets are not consistent in getting him the ball or not looking hard enough to get him the ball. Oh now you're comparing him to other great centers. Well, before you do that...you have to use your brain a little bit and understand that back then...it was MUCH EASIER for the Center to operate because "illegal defense" is still in place. Today, you literally can double anybody before he even got the ball. So they double Yao before he even get the damm ball, he can't do anything about that. So how the **** you expect his scores to go up when he don't get to touch the ball?? Even Shaq offense is going down after they got rid of illegal defense.
so, essentially, you bumped your own thread, just to say "i told you so" in light of yao's season ending injury. and to think, you were probably one of the many who called kobe "whiny, immature, and classless". oh, the irony.
Yeah hakeem had it easy because illegal defense was around. the fact throughout the year he was facing ewing, robinson, deke, shaq, zo, etc. was so easy. Yao goes against shaq 3 times a year and dwight twice a year. There are no other centers even comparable to the type of competition of the centers in teh 90s. Also Yao makes his teammates change the game so much. Our offense is so stagnant when Yao is in, yes he is a great scorer and makes his free throws. But is it really worth giving up so much for him to get that. Hakeem didn't ask for everyone else to alter their game, neither did Tim Duncan, Shaq, and a lot of other big men. Your loyalty to yao is shown by your username. I love Yao as a person, and love his work ethic and what he ahs done for this game. I also love my dad, doenst mean I think he should be suited out for the rockets. He is a great player...but at the same time we sacrifice quite a bit by having him on our roster. The fact that he never gets a break (chinese basketball) and his body is very fragile. During games we change how we play so much when he is in. Why do you think we won 22 in a row? Everyone finally relaxed and played basketball the way they knew. Do you think in college or on the streets in high school these players played with a giant in the center that reposted, and your goal was to get him the ball where he can score? Or do you think they were trying to score with the other 4 guys on the court by moving around? My point is, playing with yao is having a lot of players play differently then they are accustomed to. the lane is clogged becasue of the two guys doubling yao at times (and yao himself), and then a lot of players dont make their cuts the same when yao is in etc. Then yao goes out and its like, ok time to play normal basketball, but then they aren't comfortable with that either. I am not saying yao is our whole problem, he is our MVP this year and does a great job. I am just asking you, do you really think he is worth what we give up? I like him on the team...but maybe its time to start running a normal offense and have him find his role, not running the offense through him, and letting everyone else find their role. The likelihood of him getting hurt in the season is quite high, the likeli hood of the other guys on our team all going out, isnt. Let's adjust our offense for hte majority, not the one guy who is injured almost very year.
find a post that i said that about kobe first thing, and secondly I just think after everyone flamed me for posting my opinions on a FORUM that i should show them that maybe I wasn't being too ridiculous. a FORUM is to post opinions and have debates, I dont mind if you disagree with me, but the amount of insults I got without any other feedback was ridiculous. Grow up people, last time I checked this was a sports forum were debate was encouraged. If you want, I can just smurf around and post one liners and try to bump my post count and rep so people can respect me on an website. I dont give a crap about that, I am here because I enjoy sports, i love the rockets, and i love debating about both. If your here to insult me, than great, i really dont care. No words will ever hurt me so you are wasting your time. If you disagree with me and want to debate, then please do, I am not trying to see how many people I can have agree with me. I want to see other peoples views... because the last time I checked at the top of the screen it said clutch fans, let's talk rockets. I am here to talk rockets and basketball, not to see how many insults I can think of about a person I have never met.
so 1. Alston does NOT suck 2. Rockets are NOT going to the playoffs 3. RA SUCKS 4. Rockets NEED Mcgrady 5. Artest SUCKS 6. Yao SUCKS 7. Fire EVERYONE and we'll be good no wonder u were hurt.
