WRONG.
He has shown the ability to carry a team to a championship, and then some.
He just hasn't done it...
where's the trophy? Did you just buy a Kobe poster, cut off his trophy and glue it to your McGrady poster?
You just proved that series was lost by the team. McGrady didn't do us any injustice that year. He played his part, and very well at that. I don't have an answer for why we have been unable to get out of the first round, but to squarely put the blame on him is unfair. It is probably amplified by him trying to put the load on himself by making stupid statements like, "its all on me".
BTW, Yao was coming off of an injury if I remember correctly..
Hopefully, all that can change this year! We have all the tools. Let's hope that we have a parade late june...
Tinman! Dude...seriously?
I said he has the ability to do it.. He hasn't done it though.
Which, I 100% agree with you is a big deal. Don't get me wrong. I'm no McGrady lover. I'll absolutely agree on his faults...
All I'm saying is why blame your best performers when things dont go well....Tracy has been phenomenal, up with the all time greats in terms of playoff production....Because the team hasnt gotten out of the first round, you cant just look at your superstar and blame him. Put Lebron on the rockets the past 5 years and they probably would have still struggled getting out of the first round because i dont see him producing more than mcgrady in those games....if this happened would you then say "get rid of lebron"? Hell no. I hope not. Tracy is not the problem. He's never been the problem.
don't change the subject Ability to carry a team to a championship = team has won a championship show me your evidence of that championship Hamza, I'll save you the trouble. Don't apply to Law School. Stick to Fictional writing.
I don't know about that. Lebron would be enough to get us out of the first round, but the point is, we don't have him. We have Tracy McGrady, a spectacular player in his own right, who has underperformed thus far. However, he has done everything we have asked from him in the post season, except getting us out of the first round (which btw does take a team effort)...
I did not change the subject. You said that McGrady has never lead a team out of the first round, at which point I claimed that even you admitted that it is a "team" that advances in the playoffs, not an "individual".

Tinman, Not trying to be rude or anything... Honestly though, by what sort of convulted logic have you come up with the rule that having the ability to accomplish something, and actually accomplishing it is the same thing?
Did Charles Barkley have the ability to win a championship? Yes Did he do it? No
Don't try to bring personal attacks into the discussion. If you don't agree with my assessment, that's fine. Don't be condescending though...
Right, you were unable to disprove my statement so you decided to make it seem ridiculous by using insubstantial statements that aren't applicable to any facet of the discussion at hand.
Sorry if I offended you. Maybe you'll make a good lawyer, just as long as you aren't trying to prove that Tracy McGrady has the ability to lead his team to a championship based on what he's done in the past. Charles Barkley has been to the NBA Finals and was the MVP of the NBA. those are evidence that he was close (Game 6). Give me your evidence that Tracy has the ability.
you have no evidence that he has the ability. Ability to win a championship is to first get into the damn championship series! and if he does have this ability, how come he never uses it? Does this guy show up during the playoffs? I think this why. "Hey, I'm Tmac's biggest fan!"
Dude he just used the only evidence he can give you that aren't focused on the team's results. He showed you the stats. He showed you what Tracy has done in the playoffs and it ranks up there with the all time greats, guys that people would love to have on their team during the playoffs. The Kobes, the Lebrons, the Chris Pauls, etc. The thing is, basketball is a team sport. Kobe needs support, Lebron needs support, CP3 needs support. If the rockets fail in the playoffs its because they failed as a team. You cant just look at those results and say Tmac doesnt have what it takes. That is illogical given the evidence.
No prob. Sorry if I offended you in anyway as well...
Anyways, Slam Magazing top 75 NBA players: 1. Jordan .. .. 12. Hakeem Olajuwon .. .. 19. Charles Barkley .. .. 75. Tracy McGrady
He must have some sort of ability to do great things judging by him making that list.. That's pretty good company right there..
*Can't really site the source since I'm looking at the Magazine.. but: http://armchairgm.wikia.com/SLAM_Magazine's_Top_75_NBA_Players
Well played with the Haitian!
Again, I don't have the answer as to why he has not gotten out of the first round..but it happens. It happened with Kevin Garnett, and as you pointed out, it took Cassell to help him out. Was anyone denying KG's ability to win a championship? Did anyone doubt it last year?
