And they will prove it again this year when they miss the playoffs.

    Nero,

You know what I find myself doing recently during games? Staring blankly at the game. Very little emotion. Not like I used to.

See, I'm not suprised if they play bad, or good. Nothing surprises me now. If they play well, I'm not suprised. But, If they play bad, I'm not surprised either.

I still watch because I'm loyal. But apathy is seeping in regards to my emotion and expectations.

True. But for a Rocket fan....

No HEART + LOW IQ = Nothing to get excited about regarding the Rox.

    Ho-hum basketball.

    I wonder about that...

Sometimes I get the feeling that these players have to get used to the structured offense and learn it like the back of theirs hands before they can be let loose without going crazy. It's like power without control is uncontrollable. So, JVG gets down to basics (VANILLA OVERLOAD). And shoves it down the players throats until they can't stand it no more.

Then, after a few months (season?) of this stuff, he starts to let them have more freedom. But this time, unlike Rudy, the players KNOW BOTH styles of play: Controlled and structured. And free-style and improvised. In the past, we only knew ONE WAY to play (uncontrolled; wild and woolly, iso...).

So, I'm wondering if what we are seeing is a bad phase of learning we just HAVE to go through.

    Umm..no.

We can trade their sorry asses.

I much rather have a bunch of less talented smart players who can play a smart system, a la Jerry Sloan, than have a bunch of dumbasses with hella talent that can't play worth #4s! together.

Well, if JVG can't teach them. No one can. We'll see.

I did change the channel on the Rockets during the T-Wolves game in disgust, but a couple of minutes later I came back to it. It reminded me of the old Reliant Energy commercial where the guy turns it off, then apologizes and turns it back on.

This team at times is very unwatchable, more than in past years. Maybe it's because Van Gundy has made this team less exciting, even if he is helping the team in the long run. I have finally started to miss Rudy, and had thoughts of wanting to trade Steve. But I think it's too early to give up on JVG and his system. We gave Rudy 5+ years to rebuild this team, so we can give Jeff more than 20 games.

    EXACTLY!

The verdict is not in yet. I want to see how this team plays within a organized system after 2 or 3 years.

By then Yao should be 25 (still a baby).

    Some overreactions now.

I think the Rockets often play ugly and uninspired... but despite that, they're not a bad team. They're even above average. They're just pretty boring, too.

Great and boring one can live with. Exciting and above average is palatable. At least we don't suck, though.

I find it hard to believe that the Rockets will miss the playoffs. They just don't look like they'll do much once they get there (and they'll look boring doing it).

To start, he never said he'll stop being a fan, only that he's disappointed. After 5 years he has a right to be. I just love how some people on this board feel obligated to tell others whether or not they are or are not real fans (or in your case, where to post), all hidden behind the guise of being a real fan. It's pathetic. Let me repeat, IT'S PATHETIC.

Nero posted an honest and intelligent reactionary post which quite frankly is better than 80% of all the posts here and he gets lashed out by you? Because you are a real fan? Don't make me laugh. And no MF doesn't stand for what you think it does, although if it did, it would be a far closer description of you instead of myself and Nero.
