This heart is only active on the offensive end? Where is it on both sides of the court. That's the big difference. Ariza plays on both sides.
lol its funny how you deny this. Nearly everybody has the potential to develop and some guys develop with a new environment - Joe Johnson comes into my mind whose talent unfolded late, Steve Nash stepped up his game with Phoenix, even Mike James had a good season with Toronto There always will be late bloomers but Trevor is still young and I am not sure if he's hit his ceiling yet
I think Ariza - could be a similar player to Gerald Wallace, hopefully healthier and more efficient version
Yeah, whatever. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qyzsGgl2_gY&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qyzsGgl2_gY&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> He was getting better on D, he struggled at times, but his heart was there too..... DD
How many times have we seen players make noise in the post season, sighn a contract and not live up to the hype. I say ariza can turn into Shane 2.0 (which is not a bad thing) or at the best end up with caron butler type of stats. Yeah sure he did well in LA but when you have Kobe and Gasol getting all that attention your gonna be open a couple times a game. I still think he was a great pick up, I think he for sure can be a great 3rd option and an awesome defensive but I dont see him being a leading force early in the season when Yao and Tracey are out.
even without legit link you can tell from his interviews 'I am so happy to talk to the Clippers' Wafer talks with the clippers that the odds are not in favor of us signing him I would say he is as good as gone unless he does a 180 degree U-turn
On this team with positive energy it's possible, but yea your right he would be the first in a long time.
You missed the point of that post entirely, it is for people who say Von doesn't play defense. Sure he struggles as any young player would or does, but he does play defense. He was getting better with consistent minutes...which is great. Von can play D, he is just more offensively polished right now. I believe you can teach an offensive player how to play adequate defense more easily than you can teach a defensive player to play adequate offense. DD
registered but better move it to the Von thread. Btw it was the only block I can recall in a season where he blocked like 2-3 times? Back to Ariza who signed a guaranteed contract and who will be a starter.
I think Ariza will have the chance to be more productive on a positive note. He is younger then me, but i think being around good team mates and positive energy will really enhance the upside and be a good positive asset in Houston.
Off the topic, lots of players dream to have the skillset and body control of McGrady. Too bad McGrady himself doesn't seem to cherish his talent.
How would you know? You know him personally? Im sure Tmac appreciates the talent he has. On the court, he does amazing things. What happened to him last year sucked but when everything goes wrong for you, you kinda lose it. Now I'm not advocating what he did but those things happens to superstars as well. Kobe threw his team and management of the bus back in the early 07-08 season. LeBron acted like a douchebag in this years playoffs. The thing is though, when you're a proven winner, all those negatives go away. It's just sad that Tmac couldnt win a p/o series. Harsh bad luck imo.
12-14 point range with high steals numbers. Maybe 3 a game. Thats not Allstar but seens to be in the real good player potential. Possibly better than Battier slightly.
I have bad news for everyone. He already reached his offensive potential. He might become a little better shooter from long range but there is not untapped talent in Trevor Ariza. He isn't suddenly going to become a good ball handler or regularly slash his way to the rim. He's Shane Battier with inferior defense, an inferior shot and superior finishing ability at the rim. His youth is overrated. He is young but not inexperienced. He has played plenty of NBA minutes so he isn't like Carl Landry at 24 years old. He is what he is.
Now, just saying this makes me cringe a bit, but Trevor DOES have a bit of Pippen in him. The defensive comparisons are obvious and Trevor is probably a better outside shooter.(from the line) (Scottie would have him on the pull up jumper)While I do believe Trevor's handles are underrated, Scottie's ball handling abilities were superior.Toss in the M.J. and Kobe factors and there are a few similiarities. One area that's not close though, is HEART. All in all, Trevor is only 24 and if he's just a "younger Battier" then great. That said, coming out of Kobe's shadow combined with the way he took over in the playoffs ,I see some upside. The guy is already better than Stacey Augmon (I know it's not saying much ) who never had the J.And he's got more athleticism than Battier. I'd say we've got a swingman who is a steal at the MLE.
Ariza will be better than Artest in 2 years and he's cheap. Who cares if his ceiling isn't that high? Morey is working on getting that superstar.
