I hope people don't dislike it because it doesn't live up to the standards of the Cosby show. Maybe the NBC execs have that in their minds and it looks that way with the same producers, but the creative talent is behind what the show turns out to be. I don't think the writers or Tracy are trying to emulate the Cosby show.
Eh, I don't see the connection at all...totally different images. Bill Cosby was the comedian you took your kids, your grandma, and your pals to go see, and that was certainly reflected in the show and plotlines. Tracy simply doesn't have the image, and, watching the show, I don't see NBC trying to achieve a Cosby-like show.
Tracy is trying too hard. IMHO all the elements are there for a good show. There's comic relief, a good looking family, touching moments. But I think Tracy needs to relax a bit. Everything shouldn't be a joke. Let people see the character. Look at the way he almost looks at the camera as if to say, "look! Here’s a joke". Maybe it's the actor training, but I see it. It’s a new series and Tracy’s finding his way. He’ll figure it out. I have high hopes for him because I really like him.
Painful bad. They want the kid to be this generation's Gary Coleman. Morgan is talented, but his delivery is still stuck in SNL. After every line I expect him to turn around and shout "I'm Brian Fellows!" I think he needs to get together with Kevin Smith, and develop a Pumpkin Escobar sitcom
I thought the kid was good, but I do see your point --- I actually thought TM was keeping himself in check. I was expecting him to overact more than he did - I really thought he was funny though. This show was definitely better than I thought it was going to be --- so it has promise.
