the M45 out sold in the US now actually is an old Nissan model sold in japan-- i think its either the gloria or the cedric. if youre thinking about getting a M45, wait until next month. the new ones are coming out
I haven't followed Nissan much since I got rid of mine, but if that's the new styling, then I'm impressed with the appearance - from the front anyway. Not sure what it looks like from behind.
It looks like a G35 on roids. Still the best value for the power out there. I do still like the throwback M45 - the styling, everything - it was all-Japanese and imported as an intro to the new one.
or from the interior IMO, Nissan lately has had crap interiors on alot of their models that totally take away from sleek exteriors
it seems like they worked hard on making the interior of this car really nice. obviously, you wont know until actually you sit in the car, but from the pics, the interior of the new m45 looks to be decent
mulletman, The center console on that, from the clock down to the shifter still looks Nissan like cheesy to me. In fact, all of Nissans interiors, in that specific area, all seem to look the same. Has anyone seen the interior of the Armada?
Looks fine to me, but maybe I'm biased (because I own one). While it's not the prettiest I've ever seen, it is quite functional.
The interior is one reason I decided not to get the G35 sedan and opted for the TL. It blew it away. Everything in the G35 looked like it was made by Fisher Price. The worst example of this was in the Altima. They finally heard enough from people b****ing about the interior on that car and updated it a bit.
Ok, see? The rear on that M45 looks like somebody whacked it. It looks like a G35 coupe with a fat ass. What the hell??
Sorry Manny, I lusted after that car for 2 years and if I hadn't seen a TL spy shot, would be driving one now. I still love the G35, but I hate Nissan for the same reason codell mentioned - they put a great engine in a great exterior, then have some elementary kids design the interior.
Hey guys, Nissian is known to break down after a couple of year with all kinds of problem....Does the 350Z have problems after a few years??? UTWeezer, u are dating Karen rite.....she a distant relative of mine. Stephen
Nissan's engines have been rock-solid in the past. Unless there's been a change recently, they've had a pretty good track record.
my first car was an 86 300zx, and quite frankly, I abused that poor thing for about 50,000 miles (150,000 to 200,000) sold it to a friend and it's still going strong at 250,000+ the only thing I ever had to do was change the water pump and clutch (definately my fault) I'd get another one in a heartbeat over the Lincoln I have now
I've decided to go with the RX-8. 350's are very nice, but in my opinion, the ride is a bit harsh, peripheral/rear vision is very bad, bad interior, and no back seats are a problem. The RX-8 does have some drawbacks as well, but for me I'm ok in the decrease in HP and other drawbacks(bad gas milleage). Contrary to popular belief, the Renesis rotary engine will last a long time. If you baby it, it'll break down. Rotaries are built to run hard, fast and long. I'm not trying to say an Rx-8 is on porsche's level, but if you baby a porsche too much they break, the cars were designed to run hard all day long then driven back home. this is the same principle with rotary cars, you baby them too much they break, you drive them hard, not abusive, they go forever. here is a quote I picked up off a site... "32 years of running rotarys, currently driving cosmo&1st gen rx7, I have found no engine that can take the continuous pounding that a rotary can. yes there is always something faster, but given just resonable care such as fluids the rotary keeps going with no rebuilds or adjustments. as a matter of a fact if you baby this engine it can give you problems, take em to 6000rpm at least once a day! " I know the Z's engine is top-notch too but my main concern I can't get over is the low visibility issue. I'd rather be safe then out $30k or dead. I'm sure the majority will beg to differ... btw, yea manny, you'll smoke my ass off the line
Sadly it is pure perception for the most part, Manny. I subscribe to every single car magazine I know of, and most of them, sadly, fall for their previous conceptions of a vehicle before they try it: if Japanese then must be highest quality, and if American then something must be wrong. My question to you is: Have you driven a Ford 500/Mercury Montego recently to see the level of fit & finish on a mid-of-the-pack vehicle from Ford? What about the new Chrysler 300 C (which I own)? How about the Chevy Corvette C5 (which my brother, who is a doctor, owns and is dying for the C6)? Sometimes guys it is better to try it on your own than listen to easily-fascinated/manipulated auto-critics that just have a hard-on for any BMW that was ever made or keep shaking their heads at how Honda has "done it again"! (done what again? Make a TL that is front-wheel drive?) Next time, I suggest taking a short test-drive at your local Cadillac dealership/Buick dealership to see the "new" breed of American vehicles. It is preception, rather than a reality (sometimes it is a reality, but I think if you have driven anything before 2000 model American vehicle, then you have not seen the level of improvement and progress made by our local heros). In fact, I would dare to say that for the most part, driving a Buick Lacrosse or a Rainer SUV (boy, that car is silk-smooth for an SUV!) would give you the feel of quality that any Lexus or Acura would. But it is OK, it will take cars like my 300C (awesome baby, just awesome!) or the new Corvette, or the new premier "pony" car Mustang to make people believe again. I personally do. P.S. BTW, I don't work for an American dealership or anything, in case you wondering I am just an avid auto fan that loves to go and test drive new cars ALL the time. I am well known around town by car salesmen
