I still really disagree. There was a few years before late night that had basically fallen off the map, after fever pitch. And jimmy is most remembered on SNl for not being very good and always breaking character. I don't recall any skits of his off hand just that he wasn't very good. He is much better suited hosting a show like he's doing now. His SNL legacy is not a very good one. Like I said earlier, Seth Meyers oversaw a very high level of snl during his tenure and most credit him with that, he has a big snl legacy. His snl career was more like Tina fey. They wrote a lot and did weekend update, not a lot of stuff outside that. And again, Meyers was on tv just weeks ago. Jimmy had been out of the picture for a while when he took over.

i was going to say in my previous post that Meyers would actually be different, since he'd less silly and older, so he could bring a more grown up kind of comedy, but I'm just not sure what angle he'll work. Could be a little of both. i think he's going to need work with his interview timing, but should do well with his monologue.

He insisted jerry walk over before the commercial break. Looked like jerry was expecting to just be at the desk when they came back, but jimmy kept waving him over. He stayed there a bit longer anyway as the audience continued to applause, and you could tell he was a little annoyed.

lol at "You're going to be doing 600k hours of thank you notes & timberlake song parodies."

Awesome, love that guy, especially his music.

I turned it off last night when Jimmy and Jonah started talking like they tweet. I thought it was lame to use the same SNL skit.

Jaywalking was stolen from Howard Stern.

Boohoo is Howard Stern still crying about that?
Sorry but I had to comment on that because I think that was Howard's main beef with Leno and it was so silly.
Does he have beef with Kimmel when he does his LieWitness news and other segments that involve his Kimmel show crew going out on the street to interview people? I bet he doesn't. Just petty rubbish.

    I completely agree with this.

    Well said.
I don't find Conan to be the most hilarious of all of them but I do find him funny. I just like the way you analyzed all of them and I can definitely agree with it all.

When did that SNL skit air? I'm asking because, if it was an SNL skit the last time Hill hosted, then actually jimmy did it first. He and timberlake did it on late night.

It's the same shtick, regardless of who did it where and how long ago. One would think that they could come up with unique content for at least the first week.

Jay stole it when it was still his, I guess? But Howard's fallen off the map.

it's in the Jimmy Fallon canon.

I knew he would be doing this shtick going in to the new show.

it's the same show with a change of title, I'm okay with that.

I expect Jimmy and the Roots and the guests to entertain

Arcade Fire on Jimmy Fallon tonight. I still won't watch it. I'll watch AF's set on youtube later on.

I guess I'm in the minority who got that.

It was shtick. Johnny Carson famously waved comics over who he approved of after they finished their sets. It was the highest honor for a young stand-up comic.

I was going to say it looked to me like they were playing around, but I didn't know about the Carson wave. Either way, I'm sure they rehearse the segment it or go over it with him, so Seinfeld shouldn't be surprised. Fallon is too passive to pull something like that on a guest.

Yup. It was a nod to Johnny and was pre-planned by them for sure.

It's from Jimmy's late night show. That's why is said "#hashtag 2" at the end of it.

Tonight's episode had some cringe-worthy moments. I decided to give it another chance because of Arcade Fire.

The drag skit with Will Ferrell was just painful, and Michelle Obama's interview was an absolute bore. Will Ferrell was good for a laugh afterwards and Arcade Fire was terrific... but wow, Jimmy's got a long way to go.

No, I didn't know that. Thanks. It just looked awkward.

My bad it was from Late Night and I was bored by seeing the same skit.
